Frocktober Day 7 - Frocktober party

Photobucket
Photobucket
And so we come to the end of my Frocktober week, it's been a lot of fun, I hope you have enjoyed my frocks. To mark the occasion I threw a Frocktober party, which basically entailed chicks in frocks eating cake and drinking champagne. Unfortunately, the weather did but a bit of a dampener on proceedings (has been continuously pissing down since 1pm!) but to those ladies who did don their frocks and came, I salute thee and thank you for a fantastic afternoon. I have a date on the sofa with left over banoffee pie and cupcakes, night night.

Today was the perfect Melbourne day, albeit a tad hot. I took the day off to spend with my beloved. We kicked off with a lie in (few and far between when you have a toddler), bliss! Breakfast was egg and soldiers, (my favourite) and then lunch at Lau's Family Kitchen in St Kilda .We walked to the restaurant in the heat and arrived a wee bit hot and sticky but were quickly served a cold beer and a selection of delicious dishes, sooo tasty, salt and pepper squid was a stand out. After lunch we dropped into neighboring Aesop to pic up my beauty staple (Camila Nut Moisturiser) and then a hop skip and a jump to Readings to browse through the latest coffee table books (Isabella Blow if you please). And finally, the beach armed with strawberries and cream to make the most of what was the perfect day, ah.

Frocktober Day 5 - Little Black Dress

Photobucket
Frocktober Day 5 and a little black dress. A wardrobe staple no less for more than 10 years! I love this dress, it's my favourite LBD. I feel good in this dress even when I don't feel so good; it clings to my curves and can be worn to the office or for a night on the turps. Do you have a favourite LBD and how does it make YOU feel???

Wee bit of knowledge as I journey through my week of Frocktober, raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer:

Early stage ovarian cancer may not have obvious symptoms but the following may occur:
  • Vague abdominal pain or pressure
  • Feeling of abdominal fullness, gas, nausea, indigestion – different to your normal sensations
  • Sudden abdominal swelling, weight gain or bloating
  • Persistent changes in bowel or bladder patterns
  • Low backache or cramps
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Unexplained weight loss
The majority of women who experience one or two of these early symptoms do not have cancer.
However, it is important that you seek medical advice if the symptoms are unusual or persist.

Froctober Day 4, tonight I will be dining with the ladies at Libertine in North Melbourne, a french affair so I thought I would channel Chanel. My latest blazer purchase from Urban Outfitters kinda reminds me of the style, minus the price tag, accompanied by a classic cut elegant dress (bought this from Cruise in Glasgow, almost 15 years ago, could you call that vintage??). I'm looking forward to sampling some fine cuisine and enjoying a mid week gas bag with my favorite mesdemoiselles.

Frocktober Day 3 - Raining in Paris

Day 3 of Frocktober, had no idea my underskirt was hanging down when I took these shots. When I was a youngster we would say "Is it raining in Paris," when someones underskirt was hanging down, have no idea where or how that expression came about. Have you heard of this expression or did I make it up??
Another fine day in Melbourne and another fine frock.
Remember you can sponsor me by clicking the graphic at the top right of my page, cheers.

Frocktober Day 2 - Digi print dress

Melbourne was blessed with a bonny day of sunshine thence for today's outfit, a summer frock that nearly got away. I posted this frock on ebay not so long ago and it didn't sell and now I'm kinda glad it didn't get away. It's vibrant and on trend, digital prints are supposedly in (according to Grazia). Reactions to this frock today ranged from "geez, that's bright," (boss) to "wow, you look so summery," (bosses wife).

You may or may not notice that I am wearing no nail polish in any of these photos. I had a 'Sex and the City' marathon over the weekend and chewed my nails off like a rabid rabbit; the story line of BIG, Carrie and the break up with Aidan (dish) was just too much (I have seen these episodes numerous times but the tension still gets me). I miss that show.

Frocktober Day 1 - Sunshine and colour

Photobucket
Photobucket
This week I will be mostly frocking up to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) in conjunction with Frocktober. Frocktober puts forward a challenge to girls, women and interested men far and wide: To don a frock for a day, week, fortnight or a full month during October, and get sponsored for it!
Like many, my family has been touched by Cancer, we lost my Dad six years ago and every year since then I have raised money for Cancer research. A regular pap test every two years could save your life, even with the recently implemented vaccine, you still need to get regular screening.
Today's outfit is bright and cheery, wee bit like myself! The bracelet on my wrist notes, "one devoted person can initiate change," fitting I say to kick start my week.

Urban outfitter

Well hello, sorry to be a stranger but I have been busy painting a decorating my front room. Before slaving over my white walls I made a few online sale purchases from Urban Outfitters. The aussie dollar is so hot right now if you're shopping for American apparel. Get on and grab a bargain but make sure you double check sizing as disappointment is not good for the gander!
My box arrived in the post yesterday and I was keen to try on my wears right away (I'm not one for waiting for that special occasion), everything fitted apart from a pair of grey check oxford shoes which I am well pissed about, UK 5 my arse!
Pictured here in newly purchased blazer ($30), parachute pants (that's what it said on the label) ($30), shades ($5) and bow tie thing ($15), sandles Nine West, top Cotton On.
Next week I will be parading a frock every day in aid of Frocktober, be sure to tune in.

Have a great weekend folks, good to be back.

Frocktober time

Photobucket

During the month of Frocktober I'll be frocking up in support of the festive fundraising initiative aiming to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). From the week beginning 18th October I will bring you a new frock ever day on the blog until the end of Frocktober.

I would like to kick off with one of my all time favourite frocks, from an Australian brand called Cosgriff. I bought it when I first moved to Australia and earned my first aussie pay cheque. It's silk and I adore the wrap around belt and butterfly on the back, it's a keeper!

A striking statistic is that, across Australia, "One woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer…for many women with ovarian cancer, the disease is already well advanced when they are first diagnosed”.

Unfortunately, there is currently no screening test for ovarian cancer. Frocktober aims to help improve the outlook for women with the disease by supporting the quest for a suitable early detection test, through fundraising for the OCRF.

Through fun – and sometimes quirky – measures, Frocktober is all about:
•  increasing the public's awareness of ovarian cancer and what it is
•  promoting women's health & wellbeing
•  celebrating the great diversity of shapes, sizes and colours women come in.

Essentially, Frocktober puts forward a challenge to girls, women and interested men far and wide: To don a frock for a day, week, fortnight or a full month during October, and get sponsored for it! It’s not just frocking up though, it’s about creating frocks, sourcing frocks through creative measures and in essence celebrating the frock in all its feminine glory...

Now that you know what I’ll be up to during Frocktober, there are several ways to sponsor me:

•  On-line payment: visit www.frocktober.org, go to the 'donate' page and include my registration number in the confirmation page.
•  Electronic Funds Transfer: Enter my registration number in the 'reference' field from your internet banking service. This will help track your payment.
                       Account name: Frocktober Inc
                       BSB 633000
                       Account number 134323187

My Registration Number is: 682561

•  Cheque / Money Order: Please make payable to Frocktober Incorporated and post to Frocktober Inc, 10 Mulquiney Crescent, Highton VIC 3216.

In 2010, October is Frocktober...open up your hearts and wardrobes; it's a frockin' good cause!

Cheers

Pringle of Scotland takin the piss - at themselves

Pringle of Scotland has commissioned artist David Shrigley to create a humorous short animated film about life behind-the-scenes at Pringle to celebrate the brands return to Milan Fashion Week.

The animation, showcased during Pringle of Scotland's menswear show in Milan on 18th January, depicts the making of jumpers and cardigans over the past 195 year history of the Scottish brand.

Totally pissin masel when I saw this, pure qwality. Watch and gafaw!

On the fringe of the CBD is a little shopping haven waiting to be explored; Gertrude St. Today I met my sister for some lunch and took a stroll up Gertrude St sampling unique, shops and fashion boutiques. Unfortunately an hour in not nearly enough time to take in all that the once dingy and decrepit street has to offer. If you get the chance to visit make sure you have more than a lunch break and a fist full of dollars.

Scarf around waist: Mimco

Well hamoured

Friday night, cocktail night at Cafe Vue in Melbourne city. My night nearly started off disastrous when I went to the wrong Cafe Vue on St Kilda Rd, only to realise that my friends were across the city at Cafe Vue, Vue de Monde in Collins St (you can see how I got confused, huh, too many vue's!) I made my way across the city in Friday night, AFL Grand Final part deux traffic in massive heels; but I got there, phevue.  I am not going to review this night (leave that to my foodie friends) but all I can say, it was a whole lot of fun and those cocktails! I got a tad tipsy and sang along with the 80's tunes that were beltin oot between each wonderful, delicious course. I wore my look of the year Social Studio dress and added some recently purchased amour.
