Fashion Weekend at LMFF

I have two tickets for Fashion Weekend (a selection of Australia’s leading designers all offering discounts of up to 70% off retail price. Designers include Arabella Ramsay, Alpha 60, Life with Bird, Winter Kate, Leonard St, Manning Cartell, Seventh Wonderland,  Maurie and Eve, Tribu, Shakuhachi and many more!,) courtesy of 'Shop til you Drop', but unfortunately I have no spends! (need to pay for New York trip).
But if I did have some spare cash I would be loading up with these fabulous pieces from House of Baulch, ach well, just need to visualise shopping in Manhattan and hope craving will go away.

Sleekit sits front row at LMFF Paris Runway 1

Romance Was Born

sass and bide
I have a pair of these trousers from the 90s
Last night I was lucky to score a front row (cheers Eleisha!) seat at L'oreal's Paris Runway 1 Catwalk show featuring two labels that I aspired to  - Romance Was Born and sass and bide. I was sitting on the very first seat as the models come out, it's at time likes these when you wish you had a better camera or a better knowledge of photography (apologies for the slightly fuzzy pics) but hopefully it will give you a taste of the night.
A stand out for me was the Romance Was Born collection, bright floral mix match prints and colours, loved the tasseled ankle boots. The models wore the bright blue tights I bought recently, check out this post.
Sass and Bide, as consistent as ever, showcased a collection of digital prints and metallic accessories of corset belts and embellishments, I could easily wear the whole collection.
The dud of the night for me was the Leona Edmiston collection, dull, boring and totally uninspired. Sorry.
The music for the night was a wee bit predictable, sure they played a classic Portishead track from years ago but surely there is more current experimental music out there perfect for this forum. How many times do we need to hear David Bowie or Radiohead?? After the show we had a drink at the festival bar, again with the crap music - think outside the box people not everyone wants to listen to Pete Tong circa 1990, winge over.
I wore my recently purchased bargain Konstantina Mittas dress, teamed with Wittner shoes and Mimco bag. When I got home I realised that my dress had opened at the back revealing my underwear for all to see, classy but that aside it was a fun night, thanks lady Mel for being my chaperon.

Friday afternoon at MissChu

Following on from my Sleekit at work post, I wanna share with you a little place that has become a regular luncheon haunt for me. A hop, skip and a jump from the office, MissChu on Elizabeth St delivers when you are hungry for good food and pressed for time. On Friday afternoon I took a walk in the glorious Melbourne sunshine and sampled a couple of their dishes. I love the layout - decorated with tasteful graphics and stylish fittings; the background music has been carefully selected and with the open view kitchen there is a real sense of atmosphere. I had the prawn dumplings and the Peking duck pancakes, devoured in 5 mins flat (delicious) and then back to office feeling full and inspired.

Saturday Morning Shop - My Melbourne Part 1

Photobucket
Wanna go for a little tour around my Melbourne? On Saturday morning I was chuffed to spend a few hours perusing the beautiful city of Melbourne on my tod, with a Myer shopping voucher in hand (courtesy of my beloved, mwah!). Melbourne, a city I have called home now for 8 years, I love it's diversity and I'm gonna show you a few of my favorite haunts...
Photobucket
First stop, Alice Emporium, Shop 6, Cathedral Arcade, 37 Swanston Street, a split-level boutique snuggled under the historic Cathedral Arcade’s leadlight dome, stocks the best in Australian and New Zealand designers, Josh Goot, Romance is Born, Friedrich Gray amongst others.
Photobucket
Centre Place Arcade, a lane with a multitude of fabulous pieces waiting to be discovered.
Photobucket
I stopped at one of the many cafe's that don the lane for lunch and coffee (when in Melbourne, it's all about good coffee, none of your Starbucks pish please) and could happily sit here all day and watch the world go by, great people watching.

I love Kinki Gerlinki for it's inexpensive accessories and colour pieces

There is normally a band of some sort nested at the end of the lane to entertain and liven up the atmosphere, how cool does this set look huh? (I especially love the chick at the back on the violin, cracker of an outfit).

Then onto Myer recently redeveloped store on Bourke St Mall. Now, I don't normally shop in department stores, I prefer smaller boutiques but I have to say I was well impressed with what they have done to this store. Bright, spacious, and easier to navigate. Armed with my gifted voucher, stay tuned to see what I bought...
