Autumnal Silks and creating a BIG wardrobe

all silk 1

dress: Zara
trousers: Fleur Wood
shoes: Topshop
bag: Topshop
belt: Bahamonde
shades: Urban Outfitters

My wardrobe is plentiful, but the key to a BIG wardrobe is to wear your treasures in many different guises. A couple of weeks ago, I posted this dress here; today I've mixed it up with some silk pants and loafers for a completely different look. This Zara dress has been in my wardrobe for the best part of six years and every year I like to re-invent how I wear it. This formula works for me and enables me to push my fashion and my wardrobe. Do you have a favorite dress, skirt, top? Why not push it around and see how many different looks you can achieve.
Till next week, have a great weekend!...

Black and white stripes and print

jumper: Target
Shorts: Tommy Hilfiger
tights: Leona Edminston

Coat: Red Dog 3

Do you ever lose something at the back of your wardrobe and then realise you have completely missed the season to wear it? The other day, I found these Tommy Hilfiger shorts hiding at the back of my closet, and yes, Summer is well and truly over. I've never worn them with tights before but I think they just may pass into my Autumn wardrobe. Mixing of prints is on trend at the mo, I like the clashing of stripes and print with a love heart thrown in for good measure.
For a more polished look, I've added a coat I bought for $20 from RedDog 3 and my Melissa shoes with the gold heel detail.
What do you think, shorts in or out of the closet??

Would you race down the beach in heels to save your favorite Fedora hat?

jacket: Vivienne Westwood

Please excuse me if my blog is beginning to sound like the weather channel but as predicted on Friday we endured one very cold and windy day. In true Scottish fashion, we ventured to the beach; a wee bit of wind, please! My son on the other hand was less than amused. When I was a kid, we went out in rain, hail, wind, snow, sleet, torrential rain, gale force winds...you get the picture.
So enough of the weather talk and back to the fashion. You may say I'm not a typical mother in the way I dress. I like to wear heels to go on short (I do wear flats for longer outings) walks and dress up every day, that's just me. I love to wear colour, head to toe and you may say I like to stand out. Well, on Friday I did a little more standing out than I bargained for. Whilst on the beach, my hat flew off, in my desperation to save my favorite Fedora hat, I proceeded to chase it down the beach, heels and all, like some kind of crazy lady. I am glad to report (just in case your dying to know) the hat was recovered.
Do you do funny things for your fashion, do tell?...

The weather has been fickle in Melbourne this week, cold, raining one day, hot and sunny the next! Today, thankfully it was a beautiful sunny day and I took a stroll to the park just around the corner from my work to people watch and enjoy a coffee (love how my coffee cup co-ordinates with the outfit).
In other news this week, I treated myself to a mani/pedicure, loving the pastel colour combination, a wee bit of a change from my normal red/black combinations.
walk in the park
my best Angelina Jolie impression, ha, was it the right or left leg??

Apparently, tomorrow it will be back to cold and wet so until then I'll just sit back and enjoy the sunshine.
Have a good weekend, until next week.
Ps Note to self: I need to invest in some thick black opaques.

tights: Sportsgirl

Orange is a colour I would like to rock this Autumn, such a cheery hue, don't you think? My new tights go perfectly with the shorts, I will definitely not get run over in this outfit! The kimono style jacket I bought in New York last October, but up until now has lay dormant in my wardrobe. Autumn is here and I'm loving it, perfect sunny days for sunny outfits, hope you like.

Ps I have changed to Flickr to upload my images (photobucket problems), please let me know if you have any issues, ta much

Bright orange and sparkly red Dorothy shoes

 dress: Ben Sherman
tights: Sportsgirl
bangles: Gifted
scarf: Target
necklace worn as belt: Witchery
shoes: Wittner

You may recall, I posted about the Wittner heel steal in which I purchased these gorgeous red glitter shoes for $39.99! The shoes arrived in the post and unfortunately were a wee bit small but thankfully I managed to exchange them at my local Wittner store, phew!
Then comes the burning question, how does one wear a red sparkly shoe without looking like Dorothy? Sure, I could take the easy route and wear them with black but that would be no fun now would it? I purchased these so soft orange tights from Sportsgirl a couple of days ago and reckon the contrasting colours work great together.
Have a great weekend folks and see you again next week.

What I wore - Dita Von Tesse Von Follies

Following on from my previous post, this is what I wore to the Dita Von Tesse, Von Follies catwalk show at LMFF. Any excuse to glam up, I went all out and even popped on a sequin beret for the occasion (I made it!). There was such a plethora of fabulous outfits, wish I had taken some street snaps but got caught up in the show and the champagne!

All fired up - Dita Von Tesse - Von Follies at LMFF

On Saturday night, I had the pleasure of the company of my dear friend Justine and Ms Dita Von Teese. The show titled 'Von Follies by Dita Von Teese' was part of LMFF week and a showcase of Dita's lingerie collaboration with high street chain Target
We arrived promptly, for an evening of glamour and of course to catch a glimpse of Ms Von Tesse hopefully taking to the catwalk. The show began, burlesque style music in the background with Dita emerging with rapturous applause followed down the catwalk by her Von Follies in various masks, top hats, capes and whips; it was a glorious feast for the eyes.
What I really loved, was the diversity in her models: tall, short, plus size, slim, big boobs, small boobs; a true representation of the female form.
I have already purchased from this range (below) and can highly recommend to any lady looking to add a little spice to their repertoire. The cut, fit and detail are of a very high quality, an affordable price too; so what you waiting for, I'm definitely getting some more.

Ps My pics are a little foggy, still trying to master the new camera but hopefully you will get a feel for the evening!
PPS: Thanks Taegan for the tickets!

Lunch at Grigons and Orr Corner Store

Love a bit of nostalgia, whether it be music, tv shows or the lolly bags I used to spend my pocket money on. The other day, I took a trip down memory lane and visited Grigons & Orr Corner Store in North Melbourne for a spot of lunch. It's kitted out like an old school shop with all the good stuff: jelly, spiders and a massive selection of sweets; I sampled their vegetarian baguette, delicious! I'm always on the lookout for kid friendly cafe's and my little Mani would absolutely love this place.
In the fashion stakes, I've also got the orange shoes back out, been a while since I popped them on but they go fabulously with my $5 cashmere scarf purchased from my recent New York trip.
It's a long weekend here in Melbourne, looking forward to kicking back and enjoying the sunshine and my lolly bag, hope you have a good weekend too.

Black and white with leopard spots

It's not every day that I find myself dressing like a colour chart, today I've opted for black and white. Sometimes you gotta mix it up! For lunch, I ventured to the cute French Deli on Lygon St, La Parisienne Pates for a tasty brie and lettuce baguette. I always feel a wee bit French when I wear stripes, don't you?

Ps I know, the bag again but so perfect for this outfit! Ooh la la
