My last post featured a new high waisted belt. Here's a few more from my collection. A statement belt can update an outfit instantly, too easy. The theme for this post is 'Up high' hence my nasal shots, I hope they don't scare you too much! Have a great weekend you beautiful people.
On another note, if you like Melbourne based Perk and Mini (PAM), you can read an interview with Misha Hollenbach here.

One of my work colleagues found this belt in a bargain bin at Husk and she instantly thought of me, bless. Reduced from $150! How pissed would you be if you paid full price. I loved the motif and textured leather, it's a snug fit but I think it looks pretty good with a few old wardrobe staples. Thanks Stephanie for saving this wee gem for Sleekit. I am officially growing my hair which means I have got to that in between stage of half sleek/half shaggy, maybe a trip to the hairdressers beckons.

Weekend with the Dachshund UN

I spent Saturday afternoon in the glorious Carlton Gardens in sunny Melbourne. The occasion, Dachshund U.N. – a 2010 Next Wave Festival performance piece by Perth based artist Bennett Miller. For Miller’s piece Dachshund U.N, sausage dogs of all shapes and sizes occupy a scale model of the Geneva UN office. This piece just made me smile, I like a wee dogs and the dachshund is a personal favourite, we used to have a long haired dachs studio dog called Hilary. You can read more about the performance here.
I had hoped to bring you a Saturday afternoon outfit but all I have is this first pic of me engulfed by the beauty of heritage listed The Royal Exhibition Building, enough eye candy I'm sure.

Welcome to my 100th post! Geez, how did I get here - that's a whole lota outfits. I would like to thank all my gorgeous readers who take the time to follow Sleekit week after week. I started this little project to keep me creative (different world going back to work part time after having my baby) and I'm a sucker for a challenge.  Some days I feel like pulling the plug, especially when I'm having a jammie/bad hair day and then I get a lovely comment from a reader that keep me inspired. This blog has come such a long way since that very first post, a work in progress that I hope to continue, if you will...
Thankyou for stopping by
love Sleekit x

Khaki in or out

Photobucket

The combat Khaki look swings in and out of fashion. I bought this jacket three years ago from Kinki Gerlinki, whether it's currently in fashion or not I have no idea. I'm not really one for trends and my style normally evolves from how I feel when I wake and more often what I feel most comfortable in. I've always been a fan of this mob, who work the combat/camo look so well. If your a fan on my facebook page you might have seen the images I posted earlier this week. Inspired, here's my combat/Khaki look.

I have just discovered Threadless - an online tee shop with original and cheap designs. Say hello to my new tee. I feel in love with the geometric/Egyptian graphic, it just stood out amongst a smorgasbord of designs. Just add some skinny black trousers and go! They ship all over, although it did take two half weeks to land on my doorstep, but it was probably down to an erupting volcano somewhere.

Winter coats

Now that it is bbbrrrrrrr cold here in Melbourne I would like to introduce you to two of my favorite winter coats. The first purchased 2 years ago from Witchery, a classic coat that will endure seasons to come; I love the piping detail. The second bought almost 10 years ago from Coast (I had to save for this coat it was 300 quid, worth every penny), every time I wear this coat compliments follow. The fit is just perfect for me, the detail of the fabric and the red fur colour adds a wee bit of glamour.

Mother's Day goodies

Yesterday was Mother's Day for all us Aussie mums. I got spoiled: home-made card (the best kind), pressie's, cake, brekky and a much needed lie in. I love my new beret (goes fabulously with the new fur) and tights, always a winner!
I love being a mum, my little boy is my biggest laugh. Motherhood is rewarding, challenging and nerve racking all at the same time but I wouldn't have it any other way.
A stranger asked me the other day "How did you get a blond baby!", ...a tad strange and a tiny bit rude I thought; I mean I know I have black hair (albeit a little enhanced) but did she think I got him off e-bay!... but if you are wondering, my husband was exactly the same as a nipper. Anyways, to all you mum's out there, your doing a grand job and a belated Happy Mother's Day to you all!

Are you comfortable in Jeans?

If you have been following Sleekit for a while you will probably notice that I'm never in jeans - not because I don't like them, but generally I feel better and more comfortable in skirts n dresses. I do however own a few pairs and my chosen brand is 'LEE'; the only brand that seems to fit my petite but roundish figure.
I am just about to embark on a fabulous freelance gig to design and produce a brand logo/label for a new up and coming jeans company. Which leads me on to a few questions to you readers out there:
1. What brand do you buy and why?
2. Is the brand label important to you?
3. Does price matter or are you happy to spend if the fit is right?
