New Year Outfit

Just like Christmas I love to dress up for New Year. Celebrating the start of the year with sequins and long flowing skirt that I never get the chance to wear (also covering my mosi bites after they selfishly had their dinner on my feet and legs on Christmas Day!).
2010 was a good year for me, was it for you? What will you be wearing to bring in the new year??
Happy New Year to you and looking forward to bringing you some more Sleekit in 2011

Christmas Day outfit

My gorgeous boys on Christmas day, special times x

And so, Christmas is over for another year, was Santa good? (I got so many fabulous gifts but that's another post). I always like to get dressed up on Christmas day, as much as I admire the aussie shorts and tshirt down the beach combo, my roots take me back to childhood when we would get dressed up in our Sunday bests for that one day in December.

This year I decided to make the most of the sales and birthday money and treated myself to a head-to-toe outfit. First pick was this stunning necklace by Drown, I have lusted after this piece for so long and when I came into some spare cash on my birthday, what better way to spend it than with something I LOVE. The Drown range is hand crafted by fellow blogger Alicia from Sea of Ghosts whom I admire immensely, for her style, creativity and progressive outlook toward fashion and graphics - her blog is a daily read for me.

I worked the rest of the outfit around the statement necklace and with my hair in hair limbo (growing it), I worked up a wee bit of a quiff with a french plait down the back. The family approved and I have to say this is the coolest outfit I have donned for a while, hope you like it!....enjoy the rest of the festive season and get into the leftovers, I know I will.

Merry Christmas presents to me!

I have been naughty and have I been nice so I thought a wee gift to myself twice! (ho ho) With Christmas fast approaching the sales are in full swing; thought I would take advantage of a couple of gems I have been scouting for a while. First purchase - silk cobalt trousers by Fleur Wood, $205 reduced to $99! Second purchase - orange fleuro patent leather heels from Nine West, $149 reduced to $109 (you could probably see these babies from the North Pole.)
This will be my Christmas day outfit (a tradition from when I was a nipper, always with the new clothes Christmas day), all I need now is a top, mmmmm, I'm thinking fitted blouse maybe.

Merry Christmas to you and I hope Santa is good, and if he's not, go on, treat yourself.

Getting into the Christmas spirit with only a week to go. The decorations around my home are making me feel all festive and I've had a few Christmas nights out, thankfully fairly painless with no hangovers. Work is all but over until the New Year, woo hoo! Delighted to receive an early pressie; Alexander McQueen tribute book, wow, amazing, nuff said.
Santa can I have that dress on the cover, PLEASE, I've been good x

Getting ready for Christmas in the sun

Christmas in the sun is weird; always will be for a Glasgow lass. While my fellow Glaswegians are buried in blanket of snow I am donning summer wears and picturing Santa on a surf board. Don't get me wrong I do adore the summer weather but would love if I could just wizz back for a wee taste of a white christmas. 5-10 mins would be enough to marvel at the lights of George Square, strut down Buchanan St, jump into Office and grab all their shoes and maybe throw a snowball at a wee ned before dartin back to the heat. However, I remember my last Glesga visit at Christmas time when I got the flu two days into the holiday and spent the duration in bed and just like that I'm home again.

The gift of shoes

Photobucket
Photobucket
Tis the season to give and to receive. Last week my good friend Anthea from What's for Tea gifted me two gorgeous pairs of heels on account of them not fitting her anymore and criminally finding themselves at the bottom of her very stylish wardrobe. I accepted with open arms and have been parading about in them all week. I hope to return the gesture with a pair of shoes (bought online and too small) that sit at the bottom of my cupboard waiting for a new home. Do you have something in your wardrobe, bought online or purchased in haste (I WILL lose 2kg and fit into that), or maybe a gift for someone that is not quite you but perfect for another?? Recycle your wears and make a friend happy.

Thank you lady Anthea.

Parasol and red bow shoes

Summer in Melbourne - sunny, warm, un-seasonally wet with a swarm of locusts heading my way, juxtaposed to Winter in Glasgow - cold, freezin, ciaos and knee deep in snow...I know where I would rather be. Got me thinking just how much the weather can impact on your life and well being. I don't think I would survive a Scottish winter now having embraced Melbourne for its timely seasonal and mostly beautiful weather.
The Australian sun, while welcomed can also be very damaging. My Scottish skin requires regular sun screen to avoid burning and to be honest my tanning days are well and truley over (mahogany has never been my colour) so I was well chuffed to receive a gift from my in-laws of this stunning red parasol. Stylish and practical it goes with most outfits, this will be a summer staple for me, compliments on the street have been plentiful.
Also embracing my new shoes, gifted to me by my good friend Anthea (What's for Tea), I absolutely adore them, thank you lady.
So moral of this little story, Slip, Slop, Slap and maybe get yourself a stylish parasol this summer and spare a thought for those poor bastards back in Scotland who are freezin their arses off in a bid to get out the door.

Love always

I love this combo

Last week I celebrated my birthday and got very spoilt indeed. Check out my swag of fabulous gifts.
Now that I am the ripe old age of 36, what have I learned:

1. I no longer know any of the bands on the Prince Bandroom line up
2. I like to be in bed by 10.30 or I become feral
3. My clubbing days are definitely over
4. I no longer give a shit about what people think, what you see is what you get
5. My family rocks

Have to say, I'm the happiest I have ever been....night night nearly bedtime

Love Sleekit x
