Pretty new top

These days I rarely go into an actually shop and buy a new item of clothing, unless it's an op shop (I really need to do a post on my recent op shop purchases, many bargains had) 1. I now have no time more than ever to shop (shopping with a new born is both challenging and non productive!) 2. The lure of online shopping is both convenient and cost effective. However, the other day I went on a wee shopping spree armed with a voucher that had been burning a hole in my pocket. I bought this pretty top from Seed, it was $110! I know, normally I could get a whole outfit for that with money to spare but it is very pretty and will go with just about anything. Sometimes it also nice to shop the old school way even if I may break the bank!

Oakes Day, another Sleekit outing

 what I wore
dress: Kookai
overlay and belt: Cue
cape: Lady Petrova
bag: pressie from my besty
brooch: pressie from friends
bracelet and ring: NGV shop
glasses: Marc Jacobs (gift from Vision Direct)
hair combs: Limedrop
shoes: Nine West
l to r: my sis Teresa, mother-in-law Janette, sister-in-law Alison and my sis Kathleen
Teresa and I got papped at the station photo curtesy of Sophie Campbell
first outing since having Bea requires a handbag that houses a breast pump and pads, how very glam!
fashions on the field, my pick would be the chick sitting down in the red bottom left!
The State finalists, the girl in the Aboriginal print dress took out the main prize
we take up our usual spot outside the Birdcage and chat to all the passers by (in particular any celeb who walks by!), this guy was just fun and showed us a few of his dance moves
a little bit of persuasion and boom we are in the Birdcage!

bumped into the fabulous Jenny Bannister and stylist Philip Boon
we chatted with the very talented Richard Nylon who remembered us gatecrashing 2 years ago!
my sister Kathleen stealing a cigar from the legendary Jeff Banks who is always up for a chat (I love this pic, sums up the spirit of the day)

Last Thursday was Oakes Day at Flemington Racecourse. My family and I put on our glad rags for a day of champagne, fun and frolics. Each year we attend our main mission is to some how make it into The Birdcage without a ticket. This Sleekit (every wondered how I got my name?) task requires, determination, balls, no shame and endurance! Once the bubbles start to flow, the Glasgow banter kicks in and before you know it, boom, we are in, mixing with the privileged, stars of TV and the fashion glitterati.  Oh the hilarity!
Here's a few snaps from the day and who knows maybe next year we will finally get the ticket but I'm sure it wouldn't be as much fun!

$44 op shop outfit

I am very lucky to be surrounded by many great op shops, one of the perks of living in the burbs of Melbourne. Not wanting to rush out and spurge on a new wardrobe just yet I stumbled upon a few great finds at Family Life op shop in Chelsea. The trousers, top and shoes all brand new (apparently one of the assistants sources samples from various fashion houses). I picked up the whole outfit for $44, the vintage necklace was $2 from a garage sale.
Have a great weekend folks and why not support your local op shop, great bargains to be had!

Just celebrating getting out the door

Trousers: recent op shop purchase (Italian samples)
Melissa Peace Wedges: present from my beloved
earrings: Limedrop

ring : Limedrop wooden bangles: Gifted

It's Tuesday and today I've actually managed to run a brush through my hair and put on an outfit. It's a beautiful Spring day here is Melbourne, no better time to embrace colour.
I'm still very much nursing a wound and a new born and with that comes a change in wardrobe. My plethora of dresses are no longer practical as I breast feed my little one and yes I still have a bump (sorry to break it to you but like the celebrity culture who endorse it, your bump does not magically disappear and your rocking about in evening gown at the first sniff of an engagement). In the real world, it will be several months before my figure snaps back into shape and I'm absolutely ok with that. I came across these silk trousers from my local op shop, brand new for the bargain price of $15 and the top I've had for forever.
I do not have a personal trainer but I will get back to fitness in my own time.
Until then, I'm just celebrating getting out the door and enjoying the sunshine with my little bundle.

Introducing my wee bairn Bea

The house of Sleekit has turned very pink, let me introduce you to my little bundle of goodness Bea Lilly, born on 11 Sept.
Quickly approaching 3 weeks in and we are so much in love with this gorgeous girl. She mostly sleeps and feeds with the occasional smile that melts your heart, it's such a precious time.
Bea was born by C-section therefore I'm still in recovery, hopefully should be back fighting fit in another 3 weeks. Very hard to slow down when you want to get back out there and share your new addition with the world! Until then I'll share her with you x

Guest Post - Morning Rituals

Big thanks again to Lady Sleekit for handing over the password whilst she is on maternity leave. Just two more sleeps until her little bundle arrives! I had the pleasure of the Lady's company over the weekend and even about to pop the woman is as stylish and polished as ever - amazing.

As we get to know each other over the next little while I thought I'd share with you my morning routine which is the same every single day.

I have two little pugs who need walking and a caffeine craving that needs seeing to before my brain can get in gear for the rest of the day.
More often than not I'll throw on some trackies and a hoodie and head out to the park sans shower and with a takeaway cuppa but if I'm up early I'll get proper dressed and take the hounds out for a coffee and a stroll.

My black pug is Rudie the Rude Boy who came to us as a puppy last year and is a divine little devil with personality plus. Our newest family member is fawn coloured Sushi who we adopted from Pugs SOS a couple of months ago. Being a rescue we aren't sure of her age or what horrors the poor gal has been through - too many babies and a lost eye along the way - but she's settling in just fine and her little piggy tail is forever wagging which makes me think she is finally happy.

 My lipsticky calling card

Pugs shed hair all year round so my most important accessory is a lint brush! They also have energy to burn so flat shoes for walking them are a must as we sometimes go for miles...

Cutest summer romper, body oil

Firstly, I would like to thank my dear friend lady Anthea for her gorgeous wedding post. You will be seeing a lot more of this gorgeous girl on Sleekit while I concentrate on my little bundle.
Anthea and I both share a love for fashion and with that cemented a truly great friendship, not to mention she's one of the coolest most generous hearted chicks I know! Look forward to many fabulous posts.
So this it it folks, my last post before I descend into a world of nappies and night feeds. On the back of a fairly harrowing first birth experience I will be having a C-section this Wednesday. Mental to think I will be checking myself in to have a baby. I'm excited but shitting myself at the same time, its been 5 years since I nursed and burped a new born, I'm sure it will all come back to me, eek!
In celebration of my impending arrival, my closest friends threw me a baby shower and this is what I wore. Forever hanging onto my sartorial style even at 38 weeks, I purchased this gorgeous mac, had my hair, nails and feet done, added a few accessories and arrived a vision of blue. We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of food, cake and what turned out to be a cacophony of laughter and good times. Thank you ladies, you know who you are and love my gifts.
Hope to see you back on here very soon when I overload you with baby pics and tales of cuteness, till then...

Guest Post - A country wedding

Hello lovely readers! Lady Sleekit has handed me the magic password while she has her ever-stylish feet up waiting on the impending arrival of her new enfant - exciting!

Some of you may recognise me as Sleekit's occasional partner in fashion crime and for those who don't my name is Anthea - I do hope you enjoy my guest posts over the next little while. (I'm a little bit rusty with the blogging so please bear with me.)
I'd describe my style as vintage with a touch of rock'n'roll and little bit of cowgirl thrown in for good measure.

Melbourne has certainly turned on a magnificent end to winter and I attended a gorgeous country wedding in Kyneton - about an hour from the city.

 Posing with my lovely hubby

Diamante brooch picked up at a vintage store in Palm Springs

Any excuse for a weekend away and of course to frock up! There was much toasting of bubbles to the happy couple and smiles all around.

Cheers to you dear readers - I look forward to next time...
