Oakes Day, another Sleekit outing

 what I wore
dress: Kookai
overlay and belt: Cue
cape: Lady Petrova
bag: pressie from my besty
brooch: pressie from friends
bracelet and ring: NGV shop
glasses: Marc Jacobs (gift from Vision Direct)
hair combs: Limedrop
shoes: Nine West
l to r: my sis Teresa, mother-in-law Janette, sister-in-law Alison and my sis Kathleen
Teresa and I got papped at the station photo curtesy of Sophie Campbell
first outing since having Bea requires a handbag that houses a breast pump and pads, how very glam!
fashions on the field, my pick would be the chick sitting down in the red bottom left!
The State finalists, the girl in the Aboriginal print dress took out the main prize
we take up our usual spot outside the Birdcage and chat to all the passers by (in particular any celeb who walks by!), this guy was just fun and showed us a few of his dance moves
a little bit of persuasion and boom we are in the Birdcage!

bumped into the fabulous Jenny Bannister and stylist Philip Boon
we chatted with the very talented Richard Nylon who remembered us gatecrashing 2 years ago!
my sister Kathleen stealing a cigar from the legendary Jeff Banks who is always up for a chat (I love this pic, sums up the spirit of the day)

Last Thursday was Oakes Day at Flemington Racecourse. My family and I put on our glad rags for a day of champagne, fun and frolics. Each year we attend our main mission is to some how make it into The Birdcage without a ticket. This Sleekit (every wondered how I got my name?) task requires, determination, balls, no shame and endurance! Once the bubbles start to flow, the Glasgow banter kicks in and before you know it, boom, we are in, mixing with the privileged, stars of TV and the fashion glitterati.  Oh the hilarity!
Here's a few snaps from the day and who knows maybe next year we will finally get the ticket but I'm sure it wouldn't be as much fun!

Just celebrating getting out the door

Trousers: recent op shop purchase (Italian samples)
Melissa Peace Wedges: present from my beloved
earrings: Limedrop

ring : Limedrop wooden bangles: Gifted

It's Tuesday and today I've actually managed to run a brush through my hair and put on an outfit. It's a beautiful Spring day here is Melbourne, no better time to embrace colour.
I'm still very much nursing a wound and a new born and with that comes a change in wardrobe. My plethora of dresses are no longer practical as I breast feed my little one and yes I still have a bump (sorry to break it to you but like the celebrity culture who endorse it, your bump does not magically disappear and your rocking about in evening gown at the first sniff of an engagement). In the real world, it will be several months before my figure snaps back into shape and I'm absolutely ok with that. I came across these silk trousers from my local op shop, brand new for the bargain price of $15 and the top I've had for forever.
I do not have a personal trainer but I will get back to fitness in my own time.
Until then, I'm just celebrating getting out the door and enjoying the sunshine with my little bundle.

Last preggie post

New blue raincoat from Leonard St, on sale from Bahamonde in Elwood $200 reduced to $80
Bubs first wardrobe in the background

Picked these blue accessories from the NGV shop, bangle $10, ring $2.95, the brooch is from a vintage shop in Carlton
My tights are from Little Salon on Gertrude St
Love the collar detail, even works over my bump
Couldn't resist a little taste of Scotland, Tunnocks cushion from Etsy store nickimcwilliams for the nursery
My friends know me so well, perfect babyshower gifts for moi, Limedrop earrings and ring
Cutest summer romper, body oil

Firstly, I would like to thank my dear friend lady Anthea for her gorgeous wedding post. You will be seeing a lot more of this gorgeous girl on Sleekit while I concentrate on my little bundle.
Anthea and I both share a love for fashion and with that cemented a truly great friendship, not to mention she's one of the coolest most generous hearted chicks I know! Look forward to many fabulous posts.
So this it it folks, my last post before I descend into a world of nappies and night feeds. On the back of a fairly harrowing first birth experience I will be having a C-section this Wednesday. Mental to think I will be checking myself in to have a baby. I'm excited but shitting myself at the same time, its been 5 years since I nursed and burped a new born, I'm sure it will all come back to me, eek!
In celebration of my impending arrival, my closest friends threw me a baby shower and this is what I wore. Forever hanging onto my sartorial style even at 38 weeks, I purchased this gorgeous mac, had my hair, nails and feet done, added a few accessories and arrived a vision of blue. We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of food, cake and what turned out to be a cacophony of laughter and good times. Thank you ladies, you know who you are and love my gifts.
Hope to see you back on here very soon when I overload you with baby pics and tales of cuteness, till then...

Earlier in the week I promised some shots from the catwalk, albeit a wee bit blurry, featuring Alpha60, Carly Hunter, Alistair Trung, Trimapee, Above, From Britten, Kuwaii, Limedrop, S!X and Arnsdorf. The collections were all good but not much for lady Sleekit; lots of floaty garments and bra free outfits, not the best combo for a chick with curves and more than a handful! However, I was impressed with the Limedrop collection, especially loved the check oversize shirt.
