Arrival of Tightology

Photobucket
Photobucket
A couple of posts back I told you about the wonderful world of Tightology. Today a pair landed in my post box and like everything new I buy, straight on for a road test. These tights are just gorgeous, I love the Organic fabric, the beautiful pattern and they don't cut me off at the waist. If you have been following Sleekit for a while you will gather that I like my tights, Tightology may well become my new supplier.

New week new hairdo

Took myself off to Fur (they have three salons in Melbourne, I went to Greville St, stylist was Bo) this weekend for a much needed hair cut. I like it, it's kinda 60s, Ramones, wee helmet on top of head, twist on the bob I normally go for. Headed out on Saturday night for a road test of the new hair do and the lace dress, got the thumbs up from the ladies. I dye my hair at home, this shade is blue/black which suits the crop for maximum impact. I haven't washed it yet, will be interesting to see how I go with the home blow dry but my stylist assures me that this style is easy for a busy working mum...

Sleekit something for the weekend - Dark versus light side

I'm dressing very dark versus light at the moment, suppose would be down to all the fickle Melbourne weather I've been banging on about (I promise to stop taking about the weather) - today was glorious, hence my attack on colour for the first outfit. The second outfit I'm thinking of taking out on Saturday night for night with the ladies, handbags at dawn and anything goes. I'm loving black & lace at the moment and picked up this necklace from Sportsgirl through the week, perfect accompaniment for my little LBD, it's very little, hence the black tights.
Discovered tightology (cute Organic tights online) this week after finding them in Peppermint magazine  (fashion & wares mag with a conscience), which made its way through my letter box (thanks ladies you know who you are :)).

Hot n Cold Black n White

Melbourne, hot one day cold the next. Last week and over the weekend it was so hot I bought myself a fan - why bake when you can cool down and be stylish at the same time. I did get a few funny looks as I paraded down Lygon St, frantically fanning. Today the temperature dipped to low 20's, so back to layers and tights.
With this post I would like to demonstrate two different looks with 1 white summer dress. It's easy to adapt an outfit to suit the climate and expand your wardrobe into the new season, whenever it comes.
Stay cool. Sleekit.

VIP night of fashion at Chadstone

Last night I went to Chadstone (largest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere) for their VIP shopping night with my sisters in tow. I have been known to blag my way into many events with my Sleekit charm and last night that charm landed me and my sisters second row at their LMFF catwalk show. Sat behind the most overdressed but fabulous couple, albeit their head gear did get in my way for shooting. None the less we had a fabulous and FREE night of fashion, from high street looks to their designer brands. I have to say I preferred this show to the main LMFF shows (I attended last year and kinda thought that it was over in 5 mins with a hefty price tag).
Also exhibiting, the clothes worn by Madonna in her music videos, defo worth a look, the cream lace dress was sublime and I was tempted to pull it off the mannequin.
Love free stuff, don't you?

$15 top two ways

While the glitterati are out in force at LMFF, I'm at home playing dress ups with my newest purchase - $15 top from a cheap shop on Carlisle St. Sorry can't remember what the shop is called other than it's next to the library and you would probably walk by given its air of cheapness but you never know what you may find! I found this lace top that I thought had potential and a bargain at $15. I've given it a road test with two very different looks, the first slightly risky and maybe a tad young for a chick of my maturity, would I wear this out - ABSOLUTELY! The second a more refined and classic look. The trousers were purchased from a little shop in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The shop owned by two students, recent graduates with a collection with my name on it, I almost cleared them out. The pictures don't even touch on how fabulous these trousers are, the pin stripe fabric is layered in squares so that when I walk the layers move.
Yes, I know I have a lion in my lounge room.

Melbourne was blessed by the most gorgeous hot weekend. So hot I got the short-shorts out. The city was a buzz with festivals and in particular the Food & Wine Festival. Viva Victoria held at Federation Square on Sunday showcased food stalls from all cultures to celebrate the diversity and the Australian way of life. Live music and acts added to the festivities.
Today marks the official start of the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF), I will be trying to stalk out the free catwalk shows around the city, unfortunately I am not famous enough to command a spot on the front row (maybe next year, ha ha).

With the weather taking a slightly Autumnal turn it's time to get out boots, scarfs and layers.
These green Nine West boots have seen me through many a season, four to be exact.

Top: Cue sample
Scarf: $20 from a cheap shop on Carlisle St
Boots: Nine West
Skirt: Global Rags
Earrings: Gift

Last night I was lucky enough to view the premier screening of Loïc Prigent's The Day Before: Jean Paul Gaultier at ACMI. An absolute must see fly on the way documentary about the French genius. The work and craftsmanship involved behind one of his shows is staggering.

Thinking of you

It's always sweet to get a card from a friend to say 'well done', last week my gorgeous friend Stephanie gave me this card to celebrate my 15 mins of fame with the Grazia scoop (and according to Andy Warhol, that's me done). With technology taking over our busy lives, I love that someone takes time out of their day to say, hey, I'm thinking of you. A hand written letter or card is so much more valued than an email or a text and I love that it decorates my mantle too. She also bought me these fabulous tartan tights from Sportsgirl, you will see from my very first post on Sleekit that I love tights, the louder the better! This would have to be my best highland fling outfit. I dedicate this post to you Stephanie, the most thoughtful person I know x
