Earthy hues

Melbourne may be in the thick of Winter but we are experiencing some very mild seasonal days, welcomed of course, although may be short lived as the coat and scarf were back on today. This is an outfit I wore on the weekend, experimenting with earthy hues and the new $20 Chelsea boots with bold gold statement accessories. The heart pendent a recent purchase from Kinki Gerlinki. I normally wear brights so this look is a little mild for me just like the weather.

The Green Lady

Continuing on my week of colour, I give you the Green Lady. Inspired by a 1950 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff which has been in my family for years. I've always loved this print and intrigued by the mysterious green lady who frequented so many living rooms in 1960s and 70s. My mum reckons she has the original and who am I to burst her bubble.
A couple of new purchases from my weekend shop; a gold heart necklace $10 and the biggest ring you have ever seen for the bargain price of $3! Another bargain would have to be my new green skivvy purchased for $5 in China Town.

New ASOS Coat and Cotton On Boots

You may have noticed my new coat in the previous post, a new purchase from ASOS. I bought it on sale for $68, a bargain for a quality winter coat and I liked cause it was a wee bit different. Some folks are already confused, "Is it one coat or are you wearing two coats?", the answer is 1 coat. ASOS have free shipping internationally now and you can even track your order right to your door! (Unlike some online stores who just don't even bother to send you their goods, more on this later, it needs a whole post for THAT story).
With view to my recent diagnosis of arthritis of the toe, I have made a conscious effort to wear flat shoes. For the last two weeks I have stayed heel free (apart from yesterday, couldn't possibly do high tea without my heels) and purchased a new pair of boots from Cotton On. These boots are so comfortable and I'm finding they work with most outfits. I do feel a little smurf like in flats though.
Another recent purchase was the black turban hat, have had a few laughs when out and about but I like it, just another alternative to the beanie me thinks.

Winter red n green

At the start of the week I set myself a challenge to get some colour into my winter wardrobe. These green shorts I normally wear through summer but with some knee high socks and boots I'll take them through to winter. The jumper with the swan was purchased over 10 years ago when I first came to Australia via Hong Kong. It used to be green but I managed to get an oil stain on it, a little box of die later and it's now kinda black, the stitching also changed colour and to be honest probably prefer it. I have a window of half an hour to take my shots and upload, I really don't have time to fanny about getting the perfect pose, so forgive the slightly tortured look I adorn today :)
They say red and green should never be seen, I say bollocks to that.

With the weather taking a slightly Autumnal turn it's time to get out boots, scarfs and layers.
These green Nine West boots have seen me through many a season, four to be exact.

Top: Cue sample
Scarf: $20 from a cheap shop on Carlisle St
Boots: Nine West
Skirt: Global Rags
Earrings: Gift

Last night I was lucky enough to view the premier screening of Loïc Prigent's The Day Before: Jean Paul Gaultier at ACMI. An absolute must see fly on the way documentary about the French genius. The work and craftsmanship involved behind one of his shows is staggering.
