New LBD - Konstantina Mittas for Sportsgirl

Don't you just love a bargain! Well, this week's Sleekit bargain comes courtesy of the Konstantina Mittas range for Sportsgirl, a $250 dress reduced to $41!!!!
Konstantina Mittas is the queen of avant-garde Australian design, her theatrical niche and daring designs have earned her much acclaim.
What a saving for such a beautiful LBD which will fit perfectly in my day/night time wardrobe. A week old, the dress has already been to a party and today I have it on to work, such a versatile little number. Finding bargains like this is what makes me tick. I was also temped by the Lady Louise dress which is a statement dress of all proportions, I'm still tempted, it's also down to $41....
Have you blagged a great bargain in the January sales, please share...

Little bird Elk accessories and other bits too

My home internet is still off would you believe (we are dealing with amateurs!), hopefully next week I will be back to norm as I am missing my daily reads for all your lovely blogs.
So, another quick post before I start work. Introducing my new little birdy yellow broach, a belated birthday pressie from my sis. I love it.
Both broaches pictured are from Melbourne based Elk, I am gathering quite a collection of their accessories, I find them affordable and easy to wear. They also do shoes, bags and clothes which I had no idea about, check out these fabulous finds. Ok singing off, have no time for spell/grammar check, be kind, have a great weekend!

"Accessories should be a statement. easy to wear, comfortable, affordable and instantly recognisable... to only wear what you love." ELK

Trish Keenan - Broadcast RIP

A tribute to Trish Keenan from Broadcast. A talent I only just discovered tragically died on the January 14 after contracting the H1N1 virus, better known as swine flu, while on her way back to England from their recent tour of Australia. Complications from the flu developed into pneumonia.
My beloved caught them at the Hi-Fi bar in Melbourne and raved about the gig and the vocal talent of Trish Keenan, an experience that opened his mind musically and visually. Trish was only 42.

I can wear a Rainbow

Well hello there, I have been a wee bit of a stranger as my home internet is changing over networks resulting in no connection all week. Made me realise how much I rely on the internet in my daily life and how frustrating it is when you don't have it.
A very quick post today as I am in work and well, should be working, ssshhhh.

Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too.

Listen with your eyes,
Listen with your ears,
and sing everything you see,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing along with me.

Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too!

With all this rain we are experiencing in Melbourne and the flood devastation in Brisbane I'm sure a rainbow is just around the corner : )

One man's trash, another man's treasure - Loake brogues

In Melbourne it is customary to leave your unwanted goods on the nature strip in the hope that they may recycle to a good home. Since living in Melbourne we have picked up many things, mostly furniture or baby related but yesterday, out for a stroll down our local strip we stumbled upon a pair of English Loakes brogues! In mint condition and my beloved's size, what a find. There was an old lady putting out her rubbish and I assume she put them there, "Happy New Year to you," she said as my beloved smiled back in gratitude and disbelief. English brand Loake have been making their brogues for 130 years, by appointment to HM the Queen no less. These would cost 175 quid ($275) brand new.
For Christmas I bought my beloved this book called Gentleman, a documented account of grooming and fashion for the modern man; like myself my fella has always had been interested in fashion and styling and most recently has become enthused by quality, tailored and equestrian type garments. In the UK this style of dressing has definitely taken on a resurgence.
Rest assured these shoes have gone to a good home and maybe we will put them on the nature strip in 20 years time for another to enjoy. Happy New Year indeed.

Starting the New Year on a colourful note

Happy New Year to you!
The festive is over for another year and the decorations are all but in their box. I am lucky enough to be still on holiday enjoying having time to do things that I otherwise don't have the time to do; like lounging around in my heels reading all new books lovingly gifted at Christmas. Also trying out my beloved's new toy, Lumix camera, experimenting with all the filters and settings. This setting is very apt for how I would like to start my year, bright and bold. I am not a fan of NY resolutions and will not be starving myself to lose the overindulgence kilos that have selfishly posted themselves on my posterior. I will be starting the New Year on a positive vibe and will continue to do my best in everything that I do, cause all you can do is yer best.
May 2011 be a good year for you!
Love Sleekit x
