There is nothing better than a present sent from home from my best bud in the whole wide world Fi. I regret not taking a photo of the beautiful and creative wrapping that these little gems were perfectly housed in. She gets me and I get her, like two peas in a pod our tastes are so similar, even though we live on opposite sides of the planet. We met in high school and have gone through so must together, the distance has only brought us closer.
In October, I will be meeting up with Fi and a bunch of old friends for a chicks holiday in New York, to say I'm excited is an understatement but most of all I am looking forward to seeing my best bud, I love and miss her so much, she is the best.

Rugged up

Well hello, I've been a wee bit of a stranger. Life is mental at the moment, work, work, work and not much play, although I did go out for dinner the other night to the Newmarket Hotel in St Kilda and this is what I wore. I'm in mid winter hibernation and feel like I'm favoring a few pieces to get me through this wet and long winter; consisting of: black winter coat, orange shorts and massive cosy scarf, accompanied by leather gloves and of course the infamous orange patent heels (are you sick of seeing them? sorry I do love them). Now, I appreciate that my European/Glesga readers will scoff at the thought of me freezing my buns off, but yes, Melbourne is experiencing one very cold and wet winter. Today the rain was smirry, the kind that soaks you through, drookit to use a Scottish term. Roll on Spring so I can get out off this wardrobe rut, but until then I'm rugging up in the best way I know how whilst colour co-ordinating with the local restaurant, ha!

perfect winter dining, loved it!

If I could choose any designer to create my New York wish list wardrobe it would be Scottish designer Holly Fulton. Her latest collection, perfect for 7 nights in the big apple with its sultry, surreal psychedelic prints and beautifully crafted elegant accessories. I could see myself sipping cocktails in all these outfits...

Orange shorts black shirt

I'm already starting to think about my NY wardrobe with October slowly approaching, I like to be organised. Only going for a week and looking to have a massive splurge when I get there so need to take as little as possible, within reason of course; have whittled it down to 4 pairs of shoes. The orange patent shoes will definitely be coming, that's a given, they go with so many of my outfits. This look could work for day or night and hope to work recently purchased orange shorts into a few of my outfits. Accessories don't take up much space and can change an outfit instantly, lots of statement pieces will be coming too, cocktail ring will obviously be getting a work out ;)
Do you have any tips for collating a holiday wardrobe without taking the kitchen sink??

Heavenly!
Yesterday afternoon, I hooked up with my family for a spot of (window shopping for me) and lunch at The Hopetoun Tea Rooms situated in the Block Arcade just off Collins St. We met at The Public Purse a super cute sculpture nested at the bottom of the Bourke St Mall. After a few pit stops which also included a first glance at the new Zara store (stuff piled like mountains with women in some kinda frenzy to blag a bargain, I ran out, I hate that kind of shopping, it's like bad shopping feng shui or something and you need to queue to get in, what's with that!) we parked ourselves for an afternoon of perfect indulgence. This is the first time I have sampled this decadent little nook and well, I will be back! The cakes are to die for and it's just so charming. We nattered away for a couple of hours, a perfect Sunday afternoon.

What's in Sleekit's bag

You may have seen other blogger's post what's in their bag with the stylishly laid out beautiful wears presented with symmetry and consideration, yes I do like them too, but got me thinking about my own bag and its contents. This is more of an honest look to what's inside my bag, piles of receipts and a rusty tin of Vaseline but there is a glimmer of hope, Chanel lippy and some cool shades!

Bag: $30 on sale from French Connection

Contents of Sleekit's Bag:
blue rimmed glasses for driving and watching the tele, I'm short sighted
grey shades from Urban Outfitters (cost me $5)
Purse: By Wilson (gift from my beloved)
free shades from Marie Claire mag (I like free stuff)
Panadol & Nurofen: Mum's get headaches and sore bits
Chanel Rouge Coco, I never go out without my lippy on
bubbles: I have a two year old, tantrums + bubbles = happy child
keys: This key ring is missing its arms and legs but I still carry it around
phone: I'm not really into gadgets and simply use my phone to call or send texts, I see people with iphones who spend the day looking at the pavement and missing the world go by (the little key chain was a gift from a friend)
massive pile of receipts: I shop a lot and I'm a wee bit messy
Pen: Always got to write something down, usually on the back of a receipt, see that's why I keep them!

So what's does my bag say about me??...

Earthy hues

Melbourne may be in the thick of Winter but we are experiencing some very mild seasonal days, welcomed of course, although may be short lived as the coat and scarf were back on today. This is an outfit I wore on the weekend, experimenting with earthy hues and the new $20 Chelsea boots with bold gold statement accessories. The heart pendent a recent purchase from Kinki Gerlinki. I normally wear brights so this look is a little mild for me just like the weather.

top: Country Road
skivy: $5 from China Town
belt: Sportsgirl
gold cuff: Diva
pendent: Kinki Gerlinki
trousers: Cotton On
chelsea boots: Cotton On
shades: Urban Outfitters
