Black and white with leopard spots

It's not every day that I find myself dressing like a colour chart, today I've opted for black and white. Sometimes you gotta mix it up! For lunch, I ventured to the cute French Deli on Lygon St, La Parisienne Pates for a tasty brie and lettuce baguette. I always feel a wee bit French when I wear stripes, don't you?

Ps I know, the bag again but so perfect for this outfit! Ooh la la

Saturday night - date night at Dandelion

It's very rare these days that I get the chance to fully glam up for a night on the town. On Saturday night, my beloved and I took the short stroll up the wood to sample a new and exciting restaurant Dandelion. The contemporary Vietnamese establishment is the new venture for founder and chef of Pearl, Geoff Lindsay. Now, I'm not going to review this fabulous joint as I'm finding my blog is steadily becoming a place for me to vent food, what can I say I likes to eat! Just go, that's all I'm saying...(maybe try the soft shell crab rolls)
I released my Tibi dress from under the cellophane and found it a little tighter than the previous wear but managed to squeeze myself into it all the same, just! (2 unwanted kilos have landed on my ass, very rude indeed) The coat is an old favourite, I've had for years but still a classic. The silver ball purse was a pressie from my pals, a couple of birthdays past and my Nine West pink patent heels with matching tights complete the outfit.
Did you do anything glam on the weekend, do tell?...

Rugged up

Well hello, I've been a wee bit of a stranger. Life is mental at the moment, work, work, work and not much play, although I did go out for dinner the other night to the Newmarket Hotel in St Kilda and this is what I wore. I'm in mid winter hibernation and feel like I'm favoring a few pieces to get me through this wet and long winter; consisting of: black winter coat, orange shorts and massive cosy scarf, accompanied by leather gloves and of course the infamous orange patent heels (are you sick of seeing them? sorry I do love them). Now, I appreciate that my European/Glesga readers will scoff at the thought of me freezing my buns off, but yes, Melbourne is experiencing one very cold and wet winter. Today the rain was smirry, the kind that soaks you through, drookit to use a Scottish term. Roll on Spring so I can get out off this wardrobe rut, but until then I'm rugging up in the best way I know how whilst colour co-ordinating with the local restaurant, ha!

Time for a fringe

Photobucket
Got myself a fringe on the weekend. Have been really bored with my hair and tempted to chop it all off so with the introduction of a fringe maybe I can sustain growing it for a little longer. Pictured here with some new purchases, ASOS coat and the infamous gloves and ring combo from my previous post, the tattoo tights I have had for yonks (always fun to see folk trying to work out if I have indeed tattooed my whole legs!). Hope your having a great weekend dear readers.

New ASOS Coat and Cotton On Boots

You may have noticed my new coat in the previous post, a new purchase from ASOS. I bought it on sale for $68, a bargain for a quality winter coat and I liked cause it was a wee bit different. Some folks are already confused, "Is it one coat or are you wearing two coats?", the answer is 1 coat. ASOS have free shipping internationally now and you can even track your order right to your door! (Unlike some online stores who just don't even bother to send you their goods, more on this later, it needs a whole post for THAT story).
With view to my recent diagnosis of arthritis of the toe, I have made a conscious effort to wear flat shoes. For the last two weeks I have stayed heel free (apart from yesterday, couldn't possibly do high tea without my heels) and purchased a new pair of boots from Cotton On. These boots are so comfortable and I'm finding they work with most outfits. I do feel a little smurf like in flats though.
Another recent purchase was the black turban hat, have had a few laughs when out and about but I like it, just another alternative to the beanie me thinks.

Afternoon Tea at Hotel Nest

Photobucket
Photobucket
Apologies for being a stranger but blogger shit itself last week with a plethora of technical issues, hopefully all back to normal now, phew.
Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of munching on some high tea with my dear friend Tracey and a few girlfriends to celebrate her birthday. We tead at Hotel Nest in Middle Park, a gorgeous venue for an afternoon of sheer cake indulgence. We kicked off with some champers and then worked our way through some finger sandwiches, jam and cream scones, mini cakes in the form of bags we will never afford and then more champers and lots of laughs; whilst seated on ghost chairs. Fabulous!
Would recommend this to any gal who loves spending time with good friends, getting dressed up and sipping on tea from a vintage bone china cup. To be honest the bag cakes look better than they taste but who cares! they look so pretty. The scones and the mini lemon meringues were a stand out.
I wore my new ASOS coat and Konstantina Mittas lace dress underneath with my signature Nine West orange patent shoes.
You can book here.

note to self, try not to take outfit pic whilst staring directly at the sun!

Seeing black

Photobucket
Photobucket
I am finding that my winter wardrobe is predominately black so this week's challenge will be to work in some colour. Saying that I do like this outfit, if your going head to toe black then texture is the key. Another example would be over here, I love this girl she works black so well.

Now that it is bbbrrrrrrr cold here in Melbourne I would like to introduce you to two of my favorite winter coats. The first purchased 2 years ago from Witchery, a classic coat that will endure seasons to come; I love the piping detail. The second bought almost 10 years ago from Coast (I had to save for this coat it was 300 quid, worth every penny), every time I wear this coat compliments follow. The fit is just perfect for me, the detail of the fabric and the red fur colour adds a wee bit of glamour.

Awaiting sale

Photobucket

Just returned from a great weekend away with the family and thankfully my cold has buggered off. While away, went shopping and spotted this gorgeous white wool coat from Witchery. A little put off with the $399 price tag I resisted a purchase, but being Witchery (never buy full price!) this will definitely go on sale in the next couple of months. A good winter coat is the best buy you can make, always buy a classic cut and it will last you seasons. I have a collection of great winter coats and hope to bring them to you with this one (fingers crossed with my sale theory) when the weather permits.
I did buy this gorgeous faux fur from Cue, loved the colour and the versatility to be able to pin it onto jackets, coats and whatever takes your fancy. Will get some looks together with this great accessory very soon.
