The purple wall and a friendly face

On my way back from lunch today, I spotted this purple wall. I do like to colour co-ordinate with my surroundings, ha. You may recognise this wall, it used to look like this, maybe this could be a regular spot, who knows what will end up here next. How perfect a backdrop for today's outfit post. The sun was also shining, bonus! My buddy at work Beth, has become my very own personal street style photographer, we shoot on our lunch breaks. It's so much easier this way, also I find it's less intimidating than taking to the streets with a tripod. I'm not a natural poser but it helps when you have a friendly face behind the lens. Thank you Beth!

The right to splurge DVF

On a recent trip to New York, I purchased these Diane Von Furstenburg print trousers, a splurge for me at $325! I know! If you are familiar with my blog, you will be aware I err on the bargainista side when it comes to shopping; most purchases below $50. But that said, I love these trousers and they will remain a timeless piece for my wardrobe and a souvenir of my New York trip. Teamed today, with a $5 polo from China Town, Drown necklace and Excentrix booties. Have you splurged lately, do tell, I'd love to hear...

The calm before the storm

Last week, Melbourne enjoyed beautiful Autumnal days, this week I'm reaching for my winter/rain coat. That's just Melbourne. These pics were taken last week before the new hair cut (thanks for all your lovely comments) with my new Canon D30 on the completing wrong setting but I like them. The colour says Autumn. I hope you like too.

Sleekit got a new do

On Saturday afternoon, I visited Fur on Greville St, Prahran for a much needed hair cut. I've been going there for years and have always come away happy with my cut, it's hard to find a good hairdresser huh. I've been growing my hair for the best part of a year so was a little reluctant to lose my locks, instead I got an inch off and settled for a long blunt fringe to update my look.
Just in-case you're wondering, my hair is naturally dark brown and every six weeks or so I dye it myself; it's a ritual that I hate, but it saves money and keeps my grey hairs at bay. I've been dying my hair since I was 18, one day it will all fall out but until then...

Glitter shoes: Wittner
Kimono cape: Anthropologie
Bag: Bella Inspirations
Shades: Another chemist purchase
ring: Studio Leanne

Cue Saturday day/night, my beloved and I ventured out on the town to celebrate 7 years of marriage. Melbourne was blessed with the most glorious weekend weather. Our first stop, South Melbourne Market for the weekly shop, sampled some delicious street food while basking in the afternoon sun, cider on ice to wash it down. Perfect.
I had all kinds of outfits prepared for our night time soiree to The Aylesbury but got caught up in the moment, dashed home for a shoe and handbag change and caught the sunset on our way back to the city.
This was our first outing to The Aylesbury. The standout had to be the roof top bar, cocktails flowed with a skyscraper view. Perfect.
Perfect weekend, perfect Anniversary day/night out.

Ps The good thing about having a wish list on your blog, sometimes your wish comes true!

New vintage finds

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a friends garage sale and picked up some fabulous vintage scarfs and jewellery. A neighbour was selling all her Grandma's wears and I was kinda like a kid in a sweetie shop, sifting through the treasures of this stylish lady. I love that I can give these gems a new home and re-invent them into my own wardrobe. I didn't really know my Granny but I hope that when I'm old and grey someone will come along and appreciate my treasures and make them their own.

Happy Anniversary Beloved!

Seven years ago today, I married my beloved! Where on earth does the time go? Happy Anniversary Steven! We had these shots taken recently as part of a family album, I reckon we look good together, even though I'm 5ft nothing. Seven years down the track, our relationship is still as strong as the day we met. I get him, he get's me, mad love forever, wifey xxx

At Easter time, I generally treat myself to more than just chocolate; a new outfit is a wee tradition I like to keep going. When I was a nipper, my mum would buy us brand new outfits to shine at mass on Easter Sunday. These days, the only worshiping I'm doing is at the retail till! Yes, I actually went into a shop and bought this fabulous skirt. No online shop, just pure and simple retail therapy. I'm kinda addicted to online shopping (are you?), the pull of value and variety at the touch of a button is hard to conquer. Saying that, I really did enjoy the thrill of the purchase that you just don't get with online shopping on purchasing this skirt. The feeling of buying something new, packaged up in crisp white paper, I even like getting the bags, the more the merrier...maybe some traditions are worth holding on to.

My Easter bunny outfit

 dress: To the Max
shoes: Wittner
tights: Leona Edminston
bangles and bracelet: Gifted
belt: Husk
shades: borrowed from my beloved

I'm way behind on my posts this week, acquired some great vintage finds at a local garage sale on the weekend and also treated myself to an Easter outfit, oh and a bag, promise to share after the holidays.
A couple of years ago, I bought this dress for Easter, I loved the bunnies hidden amongst the leopard print and the puffy sleeves. The belt I purchased from a bargain bin at Husk for $10, think it was originally $200 odds, it gives my waist shape and think it works really well with this frock.
I'm looking forward to spending time with family and of course eating copious amounts of chocolate, Happy Easter!
Till next week
Love

Sleekit x
