While the glitterati are out in force at LMFF, I'm at home playing dress ups with my newest purchase - $15 top from a cheap shop on Carlisle St. Sorry can't remember what the shop is called other than it's next to the library and you would probably walk by given its air of cheapness but you never know what you may find! I found this lace top that I thought had potential and a bargain at $15. I've given it a road test with two very different looks, the first slightly risky and maybe a tad young for a chick of my maturity, would I wear this out - ABSOLUTELY! The second a more refined and classic look. The trousers were purchased from a little shop in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The shop owned by two students, recent graduates with a collection with my name on it, I almost cleared them out. The pictures don't even touch on how fabulous these trousers are, the pin stripe fabric is layered in squares so that when I walk the layers move.
Yes, I know I have a lion in my lounge room.

Sleekit Goes Shopping

You may or may not know I have taken on a challenge this week to create a more 'Avant Garde' wardrobe. Inspired by a recent post of a fellow blogger Fashion Hayley, I endeavor to give you some looks you have never seen before on Sleekit, more daring, bit left of centre and try to break some rules.
Accessories are the key to updating any look so I took advantage of the tail end of the sales and got myself a worthy haul.
Tune in through the week to see how I go.

Back to school

Today I went back to work after a long and very relaxing festive break. I always remember going back to school after the summer holidays when I was a nipper, decked out in new shoes and uniform and how I would try not to scrape my new shoes as I knew the next new pair would come the following year and not a moment before. I have taken this tradition into my adulthood and got myself a fresh new outfit and shoes to kick of the working new year. I am lucky to work in a creative environment so anything goes, I can't imagine going to the office in a suit, especially in this weather! This jump suit is by far the bargain of the week, $39 reduced from $169 from French Connection and the perfect look for my new fabulous booties, it's so comfy and light too. My mimco box houses all I need for a days work, my play piece, pencil, pens and hopefully I will get out to play in my play suit at lunch time.

Sleekit Goes Shopping

So to the most important post of my little Melbourne city getaway. I have a birthday coming up very soon and every birthday girl needs a birthday suit or dress in my case so I was absolutely chuffed to find this little treasure hiding in a shop in Flinders Lane. I have been looking for a fringe dress like this for a long time and to pick one up for $30 is unreal. I plan to accessorise this up to the max, stay tuned for a Road Trip.

Sleekit Goes Shopping

Picked up these little canvas pumps from Cotton On for buttons quite literally. A wee sleekit custom later and four new looks for the summer wardrobe. Broach from a previous post and the two button combo was given to me as a present from my dear friend Jussy. They come in all colours and a steal at 15 & 20 bucks!

Sleekit Goes Shopping

Yellow bracelet, bargain $14.95

An Inbetweener, not quite a jacket, not quite a T-shirt for the unpredictable Spring Melbourne weather
Deco style Sterling Silver broach from a jewelery sale up an alley in Sorrento

These are the cutest socks I've ever seenThis weekend I headed off to Sorrento for a girls weekend and of course shopping was on the menu, followed by; cocktails, outdoor spa, dancin, white russians, sing star, food, sunny beach and breathtaking views. Yes, you could say I enjoyed myself. Sorrento has many gorgeous shops and boutiques, also a few little treasures hidden up the alley ways. The weather was perfect and I think I got a bit of summer in my step, hence the yellow theme. The little clutch at the end was a present, don't you just love when someone gets you.

Sleekit Goes Shopping

Midweek I took myself off to DFO for a little shop, I picked up all this for $160, not bad eh. Look out for samples and now is the time to pick up some end of season bargains. There is now also a Mimco discount store there, which to be honest was still a bit pricey even with the discount for my purse but heh if your looking to pick up a quality leather bag or some of their exquisite shoes then on yer sel.
