Frocktober frock and thanks

Thank you to all you folks who supported me throughout the Frocktober campaign and a special thanks to those who donated. If you made a donation through the link on my blog but did not mention my registration number please detail your receipt number in comments below so I can add it to my final tally. I am currently sitting on $100 which is not a massive amount but every little counts huh? I hope that by taking part in Frocktober I have raised awareness and maybe made one of you think and book in for that overdue smear test.

Weekend at The Prince, St Kilda

The good thing about your in-laws coming to stay is that they are more than happy to babysit and let you escape for a weekend. This weekend my beloved and I spent at The Prince, in the heart of St Kilda. The weather was just glorious and our intention was to lie in, eat, drink and be lazy. The hotel was stylish, oozing with designer finishes and furniture - rooms tastefully decorated.  The hotel also boasts a fine dining retreat in Circa (recently refurbished), slightly pretentious crowd on a Saturday night but heh they let me in! We also dined at Pelican, and old haunt that still hits the spot with its Tapas menu and laid back atmosphere. We had a great stay and I now feel refreshed and ready for the week ahead.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera (bloggers blunder) but made use of our recently purchased ipod and the hipstamatic app.

Early Tuesday morn my in-laws flew in from Glasgow to spend a few weeks with us in Melbourne. Armed with goodies of the chocolate kind, clothes (my son has a whole new Next wardrobe), UK trash mags and a little something for Sleekit. Meet my new shoes all the way for Urban Outfitters in Glasgow, perfect for Spring.

Melbourne Cup - Facinating

Not only is tomorrow a public holiday here in Melbourne but may be quite possibly the most dressed up you will ever see folks around these parts. Tomorrow is Melbourne Cup day, the 'horse race that stops the nation'. My first experience of this day in November was on holiday in Queensland when I first immigrated over to Australia. To my absolute delight but bewilderment, people everywhere in frocks, dressed up to the nines with little fascinators and flowers in their hair. At first I thought they must all be going to a MASSIVE wedding but later discovered that it was indeed Melbourne Cup day. I like to dress up regardless of occasion; I will dress for work, to go to the shops for a pint a milk, it has always been my thing so I embrace the Melbourne Cup because it's the only day of the year that I don't get asked, "Are you going somewhere special", "Why so dressed up, what's the occasion"!!

Frocktober Day 7 - Frocktober party

And so we come to the end of my Frocktober week, it's been a lot of fun, I hope you have enjoyed my frocks. To mark the occasion I threw a Frocktober party, which basically entailed chicks in frocks eating cake and drinking champagne. Unfortunately, the weather did but a bit of a dampener on proceedings (has been continuously pissing down since 1pm!) but to those ladies who did don their frocks and came, I salute thee and thank you for a fantastic afternoon. I have a date on the sofa with left over banoffee pie and cupcakes, night night.
