Vivian Ashworth Launch - A Great Gatsby Affair

Exclusive Beauty is Life cruelty free make-up

 Melbourne Milliner Richard Nylon

The invitation read, dress code: Gatsby - the occasion, an evening of opulence to celebrate the opening of Vivian Ashworth Hair and Make-up Salon. Sold!
On a cold Tuesday Melbourne night, my date for the evening, lady Anthea and I perused and schmoozed with the glitterati (wish I had brought my camera, these are some phone shots) the eye candy! The products and accessories on show were impressive and fitting for the theme; the Salon is styled with a 20s vibe in mind. Models paraded in Gwendolynne gowns whilst attending to the ample crowd with Champagne and canapés. It was a lavish affair and so much fun, even if I was on the OJ!
For all you brides out there looking for a one-stop-shop for your special day or simply a lady in need of some pampering I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
Thanks to Kyra at Pybus PR for inviting us to share in this grand affair.

Wee black mini skirt

top: Genki
skirt: ASOS
bag: Top Shop
shoes: Melissa
cloud necklace: Gifted
belt: Sportsgirl
hair clip: Swarovski
sunnies: Le Specs

Starting the week off with a simple outfit, wee black mini and stripy tee; too easy. The skirt I bought on sale from ASOS ($10 I think) but to my dismay it was three sizes too big; however, I like to wear it with a belt, paper bag style. My stripy Genki tee I wear to death, it goes with everything. To give this outfit some of my personal style, I've added: Melissa shoes with the gold heel to compliment the stud gold belt, Swarovski crystal apple hair clip, of course, the black and white doctors bag that rarely leaves my side and the larger than life Le Spec sunnies, oh and some Russian Red Mac lippie.
So there you have it, a very simple outfit with just a few Sleekit touches.

Daily outfit and colour picks around Melbourne

I'm forever looking for colour inspiration, these photos were taken on a recent jaunt around Carlton in Melbourne. Lurking around a corner, furniture, a blue door; such a plethora of pretty and beautiful things. I'm influenced by my surroundings and compelled to document everything I find inspiring, which can lead to one very full photo library!
Having a creative head can get very cluttered but living in Melbourne it's almost impossible to walk down the street and not come across something fabulous. Just the way I like it.

Outfit:
shorts: Mink Pink
tights: Leona Edminston
boots: ASOS
bag: Topshop
necklace: Anthropologie
tshirt: Jay Jays
leather jacket: Gorman
shades: rare rabbit

Wee scottie dog dress | Vintage look

outfit:
dress: ASOS
bag: Topshop
belt: Sportsgirl
cashmere cardie: Marks & Spencer
shades: Sportsgirl
shoes: Thrifted
cuff: RedDog3
Finally, we have some beautiful Spring weather here in Melbourne, I even braved no tights! My legs are still very Scottish (pale n pasty) even after 10 years living in Australia. Today, I wore my wee Scottie dog dress and a few vintage looking accessories, so you could say this is my vintage look, complete with vintage Kenneth Cole shoes that I picked up in a local op shop.
I have lots of goodies to share with you this week, including a new Karen Walker dress and also a preview of Spring Racing wear courtesy of Melbourne boutique Gusto & Elan. Stay tuned...

Gorman Ebay finds

Gorman jacket bought on Ebay for $100

Gorman 100% silk dress bought on Ebay for $46.90
The colour collar wraps around the back
Dress can also be worn babydoll without the belt
I went to a Thai restaurant for lunch yesterday, perfect match for my new frock
How cute is the elephant cup.Love.

I love the Australian label Gorman, but often find it's a wee bit pricey for a fashionista on a budget, ei moi. Recently, I have been stalking Ebay for everything Gorman and this is my haul so far; leather jacket (which I have not had off, such a bargain) and this newly purchased beautiful 100% silk dress with colour block collar. You may be aware that I am a bit of a shopper but purchasing pre-loved quality items is good for the soul, I'm going to try stay away from the shops and see what other treasures I can find.
The dress is very flowy and perfect for summer but with the Melbourne temp dipping to 10 degrees yesterday, I teamed it with a skinny top, fleuro tights and pulled in the waist with a belt.
I also found myself blending in with the local Thai restaurant decor, love when that happens.
Have a great weekend, see you next week where I will share another Ebay find, this time New Zealand designer Karen Walker, stay tuned...

Militarian and skinny trousers

Do you have a pair of trousers that you love but they sit at the good end (skinny end) of your wardrobe? I do, these trousers are size 8/10, finally I have shrunk my derriere into them; it's a damn good feeling! A new fitness regime of running and toning seems to be doing the trick. Hopefully I can maintain it, hard bloody work but oh so rewarding!

coat: ASOS
shoes: bought in Queensland
trousers: Cue
t-shirt: Jay Jays
belt: Sportsgirl
shades: Rare Rabbit
