Sleekit at work

You may or may not know that by day I am a Graphic Designer, this is me just about to start my day in the studio. I'm lucky to have a job that I love, that allows me to be creative on a part time basis (very rare in my industry). I always start the day with a coffee and I love to dress up for work, today I am wearing:

Dress: Ben Sherman
Bag: Thrifted from Fashion Hayley
Bangles: RG Madden/Diva
Necklace: Somewhere in Euchuca
Shoes: Melissa

You can view some of my work here.

Happy Long weekend!

Saturday Morning Shop - My Melbourne Part 1

Photobucket
Wanna go for a little tour around my Melbourne? On Saturday morning I was chuffed to spend a few hours perusing the beautiful city of Melbourne on my tod, with a Myer shopping voucher in hand (courtesy of my beloved, mwah!). Melbourne, a city I have called home now for 8 years, I love it's diversity and I'm gonna show you a few of my favorite haunts...
Photobucket
First stop, Alice Emporium, Shop 6, Cathedral Arcade, 37 Swanston Street, a split-level boutique snuggled under the historic Cathedral Arcade’s leadlight dome, stocks the best in Australian and New Zealand designers, Josh Goot, Romance is Born, Friedrich Gray amongst others.
Photobucket
Centre Place Arcade, a lane with a multitude of fabulous pieces waiting to be discovered.
Photobucket
I stopped at one of the many cafe's that don the lane for lunch and coffee (when in Melbourne, it's all about good coffee, none of your Starbucks pish please) and could happily sit here all day and watch the world go by, great people watching.

I love Kinki Gerlinki for it's inexpensive accessories and colour pieces

There is normally a band of some sort nested at the end of the lane to entertain and liven up the atmosphere, how cool does this set look huh? (I especially love the chick at the back on the violin, cracker of an outfit).

Then onto Myer recently redeveloped store on Bourke St Mall. Now, I don't normally shop in department stores, I prefer smaller boutiques but I have to say I was well impressed with what they have done to this store. Bright, spacious, and easier to navigate. Armed with my gifted voucher, stay tuned to see what I bought...

Saturday afternoon South Melbourne Market

Following on from the accidental week from hell, the family are slowing getting back to some normality. A Saturday morning ritual from us has always been a trip to South Melbourne Market to stock up on our groceries for the week ahead. I love the buzz of the market (wish I had taken more pics) and would much rather enjoy this shopping experience than peruse down the isles of the local Coles or Safeway. I normally get dressed up to go to the market (any excuse really), this dress has been in my wardrobe for a number of years but I seem to be taking it out more often, the colour provokes comments from passers by and I feel good wearing it. Looks like I'm colour coordinating with the bin lid but that's ok. The shoes were gifted to me by Anthea over at What's For Tea, she also arrived on my doorstep this week with a lemon tart that rocked my world and made me feel a whole lot better, thanks Anth x

Hobble Hobble...New York, New York

It would be fair to say that this week ranged from fair to hellish. At the beginning my wee boy had his first stack resulting in one very long trip to Casualty, a broken arm and a split head. Closely followed by his Granny the following day who fell down some stairs and broke both her arms! These things do come and 3's and fellow blogger Fashion Hayley has also been in the wars. So quite frankly I am writing this week off as a dud.
That all aside, I do have some good news to share with you. In October, I will be meeting up with my Glasgow pals in a trip to New York! I have never been and the prospect is way to exciting to put in to words, PURE CANNY WAIT BYE THE WAY!!!!!! I've already stocked up on some travel guides and scouting out where and what I am going to spend.

I did get myself a manicure and pedicure in a bid to cheer myself up (fleuro orange to match my shoes)

And I did get one of these, that cheered me up no end

This week may have been a dud but look what I've got to look forward to huh, happy days!

Have a great weekend and stay away from stairs, chairs, tables and anything that moves.
