Beauty Tips - Strawberry

Photobucket
It's been a funny ol week, I've been feeling a little run down and my two year old is teething with his back molars (those who say teething is a myth, they lie!), his sleep is all over the place which means his mammy is missing her beauty sleep! Time for some indulgence with another of my beauty tips. Strawberries are always in my fridge, I love them with ice cream, champers, dipped in chocolate and now I love them on my face too. When I am run down I normally get a pimple and low and behold one landing right on my chin this morning; cue the Strawberry.

Have a great weekend you gorgeous readers.

It has been a whole year since I started this wee blog. Thank you to all you gorgeous people who drop by week after week, take the time to leave a little comment and make this blog all worth while. I delved through my archives the other day and it's rewarding to see how far I have come since that very first post. I love that I can go back and rediscover a moment in time, a hairdo or a complimentary comment written by one of you. To celebrate, a chocolate cupcake, just for me and a wee cup of tea...

Keep stopping by and sharing my world

Maybe it's the beginning of Spring, changing of the seasons; I feel the need for change. I need to get rid of the clutter, decorate, get inspired...maybe I just need a little bit of space.

Beauty Tips - Avocado

Photobucket
As promised, a new segment I would like to introduce to Sleekit, Beauty Tips. Mother nature is the best source of treatments you can give your skin, you don't need to break the bank on fancy names and numbers to achieve results. I am a mother and black circles under eyes are something that I suffer from. Late nights, early mornings, through the night awakenings take their toll, these treatments are 100% natural and who doesn't have an Avo in the fridge? Why not give it a go yourself.

Time for some Spring colour

Inspired by a recent photo shoot in marie claire I'm kick starting Spring with some vibrant colour. The days of driving home from work in the dark are over and I can smell the scent of blossom in the air.  This weekend I am planning a major spring wardrobe clean, I need to make room for all these wonderful garments that I have, currently squashed in like sardines with no room to breathe; I need to be ruthless. An online shop is what I really need, mmmm stay tuned...

Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is over for another year but I was lucky to catch Show 4 The Designer Series last night. I purchased some tickets for the 8.30 for my sisters and I a few weeks ago. The only seats I could get were general admission, but to my delight my mate Eleisha (stylish & stylist) invited me along to the 6.30 show with V.I.P front row seats. This is a far cry away from my normal Friday night outings so I accepted, of course! and planned to make a real night of it. In true Scottish style I grabbed all the free stuff and made the most of the pre show free bar. Armed with my stylish mates I lapped up every minute. Alpha 60 and Fat are labels that I am familiar with but it was great to discover Trimapee and Carly Hunter, stand out collections for me.
I wore the dress I bought from The Social Studio Gala at the start of the week, the ladies loved it and I'm loving it too, goes perfect with my recently purchased ring from Studio Leanne.
After the 6.30 show we carried on to a bar near by and then I headed back to see it all over again with my sisters from the general admission seats. This time I could see the whole of the front row and spotted celebrity bloggers, Lady Melbourne, Fashion Hayley and Sea of Ghosts. I spoke to Fashion Hayley after the show and babbled away like a complete amateur on what collections I liked but she was lovely and gave me her time.
So there you have it my week in the fashion world, next Friday I will be back curled up on the couch in my pjs with a glass of red but it was FUN!
    This was the line up:

With Grace McQuilten, founder of The Social Studio.

Last night I was tickled pink to attend 'The Social Studio' spring fashion gala. The Social Studio is a space in Smith St, Collingwood where clothing is created from the style and skills of the young refugee community. Recycled and excess manufacturing materials are gathered from local industry and transformed into beautiful and original pieces.
The night was hosted by fashionista Lee Lin Chin, known for her individual style she did the collective proud. We were treated to not only a fabulous collection but delicious authentic African cuisine and music.
The collection itself, a colourful display of creativity and craft that would sit comfortably amongst the collections of all the top Melbourne designers. I loved the colour, the vibrancy - couldn't resist picking up a this stunning dress.
I was lucky enough to get a photo with Grace McQuilten, founder of The Social Studio. Immediately, I was struck by her modesty and humility, I was humbled by what this young woman has achieved. Grace is making a difference.

You can visit The Social Studio and sample a coffee and some tasty food whiles you browse through the rails to discover a fashion piece with a conscience.
