Melbourne was blessed by the most gorgeous hot weekend. So hot I got the short-shorts out. The city was a buzz with festivals and in particular the Food & Wine Festival. Viva Victoria held at Federation Square on Sunday showcased food stalls from all cultures to celebrate the diversity and the Australian way of life. Live music and acts added to the festivities.
Today marks the official start of the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF), I will be trying to stalk out the free catwalk shows around the city, unfortunately I am not famous enough to command a spot on the front row (maybe next year, ha ha).

With the weather taking a slightly Autumnal turn it's time to get out boots, scarfs and layers.
These green Nine West boots have seen me through many a season, four to be exact.

Top: Cue sample
Scarf: $20 from a cheap shop on Carlisle St
Boots: Nine West
Skirt: Global Rags
Earrings: Gift

Last night I was lucky enough to view the premier screening of Loïc Prigent's The Day Before: Jean Paul Gaultier at ACMI. An absolute must see fly on the way documentary about the French genius. The work and craftsmanship involved behind one of his shows is staggering.

Thinking of you

It's always sweet to get a card from a friend to say 'well done', last week my gorgeous friend Stephanie gave me this card to celebrate my 15 mins of fame with the Grazia scoop (and according to Andy Warhol, that's me done). With technology taking over our busy lives, I love that someone takes time out of their day to say, hey, I'm thinking of you. A hand written letter or card is so much more valued than an email or a text and I love that it decorates my mantle too. She also bought me these fabulous tartan tights from Sportsgirl, you will see from my very first post on Sleekit that I love tights, the louder the better! This would have to be my best highland fling outfit. I dedicate this post to you Stephanie, the most thoughtful person I know x

You know when you have a favorite outfit and you just keep wearing it over and over, well this is mine. I wear to the office, out to dinner, out for drinks. I wrap the top and secure with a brooch to give it that extra little something. The t shirt fabric of this top is so comfy and great for the fickle weather.
If your in Melbourne happy long weekend, see you next week.

Sleekit wins an Oscar

Its Oscar time again, time for the so called fashion police to pull strips of the celebrities, telling them they need to shed another 10 kilos because minus is the new zero. I almost feel sorry for them, so terrified to get a bad review they pay top stylists to decide what couture they should adorn for the academy night of nights. I've always been amused by these so called style police - who gets to decide what's hot and what's not, surely style is such a personal voyage and not everyone gets on your boat. I miss days gone by when celebrities took risks on Oscar night, remember 2001 - Bjork in the swan dress (I loved that and she is my hero).
I got my own little gong this week, a profile in my favorite mag Grazia, to celebrate I've dug out a little number that doesn't get out very often. I wonder what the critics would make of it....

Take the Maxi out

Melbourne was blessed with a beautiful hot sunny day today, not quite Autumnal weather just yet, which gives me the opportunity to get out in my favorite maxi dress. Designed by an Australian designer, Natasha Gan, I love the lightweight fabric and motif is just stunning, with so many maxi's on the rack this one stood out to me as a wee bit special. Also pictured is my little butterfly necklace given to me by my godmother when I was 7. Lost it once while playing outside as a nipper, my mum found it one month later hanging from a branch just down the road from our house, some things are just not meant to be lost...

A special thankyou for Emse and the laneway for your tips on my blog layout!

T for two | Heide

This weekend I visited one of my favorite Architectural buildings - Heide. If I could, I would live in this building. Its open space and Limestone walls encapsulate a modernistic and structural piece of architecture which remains timeless. Cafe Vue has also recently opened on the grounds, it was too busy and maybe not so child friendly so a future visit may be in order.
The refurbished Heide Store houses a special range of limited edition products as well as a wide selection of art and design publications, exhibition catalogues, cards and postcards, children’s toys and books. I couldn't resist this limited edition Kat MacLeod tea set, I love her illustrations and have several dotted around my home so this will fit in just nicely. Polished off some tea with these delicious macaroons.
