Hogmanay bike ride - Happy New Year!

outfit:
skirt: French Connection
top: Genki
shades: Le Specs
shoes: Volley
bike: Custom Gorman
helmet: Ebay
Happy Hogmanay as the Scots say! Or Happy New Year's Eve if you live anywhere else in the world. This is Melbourne at its best on NYE, glorious! Perfect for a bike ride with one of my dearest friends and may I say 'What a fox', lady Anthea. We parked ourselves at a local cafe for another Melbourne tradition, 'coffee' and then cruised along the beach bike track to Brighton to take in the picture postcard views.
Tonight, I will bring in the New Year with all my family. There will be a tall dark and handsome man who will be the first foot (my brother), shortbread, dancing whilst under the influence to Proclaimers, Jimmy Shand ,'Auld Lang Syne' and 'I belong to Glasgow', for sure! After 10 years of living in Melbourne, you just canny take the Scot out of the girl!
Wherever you are in the world, have a wonderful New Year and I look forward to seeing you back here in 2013!

New op shop find | Silk fitted jacket

silk jacket: opshop
dress: Ben Sherman
shades: LeSpecs
thongs: somewhere in Queensland

Every now and then you walk into a Melbourne op shop and come out with something fabulous. The other day, I ventured into The Salvos on Carlisle St and did just that. My beloved was with me and (scoffed) but I could see the potential in this silk fitted, shoulder padded, embellished buttoned treasure ($29).
I've styled it here, with a stripe dress from Ben Sherman and some thongs I bought whilst on holiday in Queensland for that smart casual look; I even got my pins out!

My favourite outfit of 2012

Here you have it, my favorite outfit of 2102. I've worn this sooo many times, together and as separates;  cost per wear, well I can't even work that out. The jacquard print trousers I bought on sale from ASOS, people stop me in the street to have a closer look. The top I bought from a Hello Gorgeous shop in Melbourne, it goes with just about everything, can be dressed up or down and the colours are so me. The glasses I bought on our holiday to Queensland, they are very much a signature/statement look. The most recent addition are the yellow peace Melissa wedges my beloved bought for my birthday. Do you have an outfit that defines your style?
I hope to bring a monthly run down of my other favourite outfits of 2012, well there have been a few!...stay tuned

Santa came early | New Bike

outfit:
leggings: Johnathan Aston
sannies: Volley
top: gift shop in New York
sunnies: Le Specs

Christmas has come early, my beloved bought me this fabulous bike; customised by my favourite Melbourne designer of the moment Gorman. He bought it second hand on ebay but it's in mint condition. Here's me just about to take it out for the first time, a little apprehensive on account of not riding a bike since I was 12! As the saying goes, "It's just like riding a bike" and just like that, I got back on, so much fun, can't wait to take it out some more.

My dear friends gave me a birthday voucher for Gorman and this is what I bought. Classic little summer frock that I'm sure I will get much wear out of, thank you ladies! Goes perfectly with my birthday shoes and sunnies, you could say it's my birthday suit, all I need now is a new set of pins but you can't have everything!
Have a great weekend, till next week.

Do you love Christmas or are you a bah humbug?

top: RedDog 3
skirt: French Connection
necklace & Earrings: Ebay
shoes: Wittner
bag: Topshop
ring: bday gift
shades: bday gift

I'm loving red at the moment, maybe it's Christmas approaching and I'm feeling festive or maybe I've simply bought a few red pieces lately (a few here!). After 10 years of living in Melbourne, I am finally getting used to Christmas in the sun, santa on a surf board and shrimps on the barbie! Next week, my tree goes up and then the endless list of presents to buy and post, it's a busy time but I do love it.
Do you love Christmas or are you a bah humbug?

Belated Birthday Week

Amazing Melissa shoes from my beloved (wishes do come true)
Unreal Le Specs from my dear friend and work buddy Beth
 Lots of this
From my sis T
More pressies from my boys (I love nothing more than a perfectly boiled runny egg and soldiers!)
Wee bit excited about Gorman voucher from the ladies

Where have you been, you may ask? Well, last week (Sunday to be exact) was my 38th birthday and I've been out galavanting, eating in posh restaurants and sunning myself at the beach. It's a hard life!
I'm all grown up. My mum was 38 when she had me, I used to think "Geez, that wiz old," but here I am, two years shy of 40!
I received lots of fabulous gifts and spent the best time with my family and friends; another year older ain't so bad after all.

Anyone for Tea?

The stunning Cecylia, organiser of the event
The The Oriental Teahouse owner and guru, David Zhou
Fellow bloggers at the Tea master class, thank you Cecylia for the pic, can you spot me?  Such a delight to see so many well dressed people in one space.

Kirby from Stylehunter, Ida Suod from Studio941
Loved the Jasmine Tea, watching those little pods open up, tea theatre!
The always beautiful Marianne, Esme and the laneway
Last week, I was delighted to be invited to The Oriental Teahouse in Melbourne Central for a master class in Tea appreciation; with the added bonus of meeting some fellow bloggers. The event was organised by Cecylia and hosted by owner, David Zhou.
The dress code was oriental chic and I wore my Kinki Gerlinki dress, unfortunately forgot to get an outfit pic, er too busy enjoying the wonderful array of dumplings and matching tea's!
I'm a tea jenny, (Scottish term for someone who likes to drink a lot of (Tetly milky) tea), not quite a connoisseur! I was interested to find out more about the blends and benefits of drinking tea. As part of the demonstration, Mr Zhou spoke about the health benefits; my ears perked up. Next week, I will turn the ripe old age of 38, scheesh how did I get there? With a certain maturity, comes an appreciation for well being, eating right, exercising and living life to the fullest. He spoke of healing the internal of the body rather than the external, everything comes from within. A philosophy I would like to adhere to. Tea can aid with skin issues, fatigue, digestion, weight loss...the list goes on. Drinking key blends over a period of time can and will enhance wellbeing, I may need to ditch my Tetly!

Oakes Day | Part deux

My entourage: Sisters Kathleen & Teresa, my mum and my sister-in-law Alison
 With Philip Boon, super stylist
With the lovely Lady Melbourne in her stunning Brett Morlay hat
I thought this lady looked exquisit, she stopped to have a chat to us on her way to the Birdcage
Her friend was equally amazing, love her Millinery

My mum made these boys shift their bag straps from one shoulder to across the body, cause she was concerned they would get sore shoulders! Bless.
My sister Kathleen trying out for Fashions on the Field, oh the hilarity!
Melissa Bergland & Zoe Tuckwell-Smith from Winners & Losers
(To be honest I don't have Channel 7 in my house, it popped off air one day and we have never had it since, hence I've never watched the show but these girls were just gorgeous and took time to speak to the family, my sister's were beside themselves with joy!)
In true Glaswegian style, we were the last to leave. Mum in her pink slippers!

It has become customary for my family and I to venture to Oakes Day, Ladies' Day at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.  Not only do we get the opportunity to dress up, but we also make it our mission to have a bloody great time.
Our day kicked off on this little bench outside The Birdcage (another mission, to get into The Birdcage before the end of the day). My mum is blessed with a great set of pipes and back catalogue of Irish, Scottish tunes to her bow; she started to sing, before we knew it, our vocals chords were on 3aw radio station singing 'I belong to Glasgow'. We proceeded to stay on our perch and met so many fabulous people as they paraded in their finery.
The long and the short of it, we did make it into The Birdcage and in particular the Emirites Marquee, thanks to some friends and the lovely Emirites staff who befriended my mum and sorted her out with a cup of tea! How Sleekit!
Till next year ladies x

Just one more...this is the stunning Alia, the girl who has been getting my ass into shape, personal trainer and an absolute knock-out to boot. Here she is papped on Melbourne Cup day, wearing Vessano Couture.
