Trenched

It's been a while, I know, after my last post about being inspired and all!...All talk and nae action. To be honest, I'm finding it hard to get motivated to post. Trying to come up with new content given my wardrobe has been culled and how many posts can you do in the skinny jeans er, here's another.
My advice to any mum-to-be struggling out there to keep herself stylish, accessorise.
Here, I've gone for head to toe accessories to lift what is a fairly standard preggy uniform; jeans and slouchy/comfy top. The Marcs trench that I picked up from the op shop has been a god send, I can throw it over the top of anything and it makes me feel polished.
Till next time...

Op shop shoes

Top: ASOS Maternity
skirt: ASOS
tights: Sportsgirl
belt: Oasis
scarf: Sportsgirl
shoes: Op shop

My shoe collection is vast, however, you would be surprised how many I pick up from Op shops. Last week, I spied these beige leather shoes from Topshop in my local op shop for $8. Sure, my midwife would be telling me to buy a nice pair of flats but these are very sturdy and comfortable and give me just a wee bit of height. Practically brand new with the stickers still on the sole, what a bargain!
I'm a huge fan of tights and so far have managed to get away without buying maternity which normally come in black and more black, yawn. I'm finding the Sportsgirl range reach over my bump without the need to pull up and they come in fabulous colours. These khaki coloured tights make my new op shop shoes pop.
Have a great weekend, till next week.

Casual caped crusader

jeans: ASOS Maternity
top: ASOS
brooch: Gift from my dear friends Jussy and Kymmmy
shoes: Nine West

You may remember the fabulous cape I purchased from Lady Petrova? Well, here's how I've styled it for a more casual look, I mean it's not just gonna sit in my closet waiting for a night out! Now 5 months pregnant, my wardrobe is shrinking but I will be wearing this beauty until I pop and beyond.

Me in skinny jeans!

outfit:
jeans: ASOS Maternity
top: ASOS Maternity
boots: Zomp
necklace: Frankideas
square ring: Studio Leanne
geo ring: Corky

You will rarely find me in a pair of jeans, simple reason, much prefer the comfort of skirts and dresses and jeans give me bumps that I would rather not entertain. However, I thought I'd give maternity jeans a try; elasticated waist for comfort and room to accomodate my growing belly. These Khaki jeans were on sale from ASOS Maternity as you will see from my previous post. They are very comfortable to wear but my only gripe would be the need to yank them up every now and then (another reason I don't wear jeans), the belly band could be higher. Saying that, since wearing these jeans many folks have commented how slim they make me look, er that's kinda nice so I can live with the odd yank every now and then.

Happy Mother's Day Sleekit from Vision Direct

I love the detail on the rim and the shape of the frame
Rolling fields at the bottom of my street, perfect for a bike ride

Horse aptly named 'greedy guts', he wolfs down our bag of carrots
I approve mum!
This morning, I was delighted to find a wee parcel with my name on it from Vision Direct containing a rather gorgeous pair of Marc Jacobs sunnies! The card inside read simply 'Happy Mother's Day Sleekit'; what a perfect way to start the day.
Melbourne is basking in the most unexpected hot weather and we took advantage by enjoying a bike ride and feeding the local horses at the bottom of our street with a trip to the park along the way.
Mother's Day is a very special day in the calendar and 'should' be celebrated. Being a mum is the most rewarding but hardest job you will ever encounter. Yesterday, I was treated to a Mother's Day presentation at my son's kinder which left me feeling very loved and emotional, he is growing up so fast and shaping into a very loving and caring young man. With another child on the way, I feel very privileged to be blessed and look forward to seeing my children flourish with a little help from 'maw' and 'paw'.
Have you bought your mum a Mother's Day gift yet? If not, why not treat her to pair of really cool sunnies. Designer sunglasses are a luxury that your mum probably feels guilty about indulging in, she would normally buy a pair of $5 shades from the chemist and toss them in her bag BUT being a mum you are out about, parks, beach, walks and having a little luxury makes you feel good!
You can check out their fabulous facebook page for great deals on sunglasses and you will be surprised how affordable they are.
To all the mum's out there and my mum (6 kids under her belt!), Happy Mother's Day, hope you get spoiled!
Thank you Vision Direct for spoiling me.

A few more additions to my Maternity wardrobe

orange swede boots from Zomp
 Khaki skinny jeans
 A stripey Tee, of course!
 elastic waistband for growing belly
loved the colour of this tee

A few more additions to my Maternity wardrobe, Boots from Zomp and the rest from ASOS Maternity. The boots (instantly gravitated towards the colour) I picked up on sale for $55, reduced from $230 and the ASOS stuff was about $80 for the lot, pretty darn good huh?
Look forward to putting these together for an outfit post soon!

Khaki and camo | Daily outfit

dress: Ben Sherman
scarf: Sportsgirl
tights: Sportsgirl
leather jacket: Gorman
shoes: Topshop

Been a while since I posted, caught up with house stuff, mostly re-decorating our new home. My urge to nest has kicked in early. I even borrowed a sewing machine and made these curtains, (yes, the hem is still trailing the ground but I will get round to sorting that!). What can I say, I've moved to the burbs and I'm feeling thrify. Also, found my tripod and give you the first photo shoot in my new home.
I've also just passed the 20 week mark of my pregnancy and starting to fell like myself again, hooray. The wardrobe may be getting smaller but I can still squeeze into a few old favourites.
Have a great weekend folks and catch you next week, bought some new maternity wear to share and also expecting a little Mother's Day surprise in the post.
Sleekit x

Autumn and op shop finds

It's Autumn in Melbourne, my favourite season. The sun still shines but it can get a wee bit chilly, especially in the mornings. Recently, I had thought about investing in a new winter coat, it's been 4 n bit years since I bought my last. With a protruding belly, your options can be limited so probably best for me to wait until next year.
However, the other day I found myself at an Op Shop in Seaford, came across this (looks like it's never been worn) Australian brand Marcs trench coat. I snapped it up with the $20 price tag, wow, what a find! Upon paying for my fabulous purchase, I spotted a pair of cream leather gloves nestled in the glass cabinet case at the counter, $10!
No need for a new winter coat, I'm sorted for the bargain price of $30.

My ASOS maternity goodies arrived

There is nothing more delightful than I parcel arriving in the post, especially if it contains goodness for your closet! As you will see from my previous post, I bought this top and dress online from the ASOS Maternity store. As my bump starts to grow (I'm now 4 months into my pregnancy), thought I'd treat myself to a couple of garments that will see me through the pregnancy and beyond.
Love the spotty top, it will go with so many outfits and the knit dress is super warm and cosy, love the big white anchor detail.
I have no idea where my tripod is, hence the camera shots but to be honest, it's so much fun dressing up in my closet!

First additions to my maternity wardrobe

Love the boldness of this knit dress $60.59
spots and colour, a winning combination $28.70

When I was pregnant with my first child nearly five years ago, I struggled to find any maternity wear that was 1. affordable and 2. not boring. Since then, the market has improved and now I can indulge without breaking the bank. My first port of call was ASOS, they have a fabulous selection of dresses, tops and even underwear. This is what I bought, can't wait till they arrive!
Have a great weekend x

Ps. One of my regular readers is having some problems with my blog loading, if you are having some issues too, please leave a comment below so I can try fix, arrggg hate when blogs go wrong!

Sleekit has a new baby

a few details from my bedroom

we built a new wall to house the walk-in
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and the bunny was good to you. Easter, a time for new beginnings so they say, well for lady Sleekit, my world is about to change dramatically.
Yes, Sleekit has a new baby, currently nesting in my tummy and due end of September. This will be my second child and we are all very excited with the news and the prospect of a little one running around again.
My blog has been a little neglected of late, moving house, pregnant and nausea have all taken their toll, but now I feel ready to embrace it all.
My other new baby, walk-in-wardrobe, here's a first glimpse, still organising all my treasures, I have a fair few! (my husband has two racks at the end) what can I say, the lady has a lotta dresses. With a little help from my handy man brother-in-law, we reconfigured our bedroom with a new wall and created the biggest wardrobe, I absolutely love it, such a joy to get dressed every morning.
An ever expanding belly will bring many sartorial changes for me. I'm determined not to resort to baggy shapeless, dull maternity clothes and hope to embrace my belly and the best thing in the world, being a mum.
