Guest Post - Morning Rituals

Big thanks again to Lady Sleekit for handing over the password whilst she is on maternity leave. Just two more sleeps until her little bundle arrives! I had the pleasure of the Lady's company over the weekend and even about to pop the woman is as stylish and polished as ever - amazing.

As we get to know each other over the next little while I thought I'd share with you my morning routine which is the same every single day.

I have two little pugs who need walking and a caffeine craving that needs seeing to before my brain can get in gear for the rest of the day.
More often than not I'll throw on some trackies and a hoodie and head out to the park sans shower and with a takeaway cuppa but if I'm up early I'll get proper dressed and take the hounds out for a coffee and a stroll.

My black pug is Rudie the Rude Boy who came to us as a puppy last year and is a divine little devil with personality plus. Our newest family member is fawn coloured Sushi who we adopted from Pugs SOS a couple of months ago. Being a rescue we aren't sure of her age or what horrors the poor gal has been through - too many babies and a lost eye along the way - but she's settling in just fine and her little piggy tail is forever wagging which makes me think she is finally happy.

 My lipsticky calling card

Pugs shed hair all year round so my most important accessory is a lint brush! They also have energy to burn so flat shoes for walking them are a must as we sometimes go for miles...

My friends know me so well, perfect babyshower gifts for moi, Limedrop earrings and ring
Cutest summer romper, body oil

Firstly, I would like to thank my dear friend lady Anthea for her gorgeous wedding post. You will be seeing a lot more of this gorgeous girl on Sleekit while I concentrate on my little bundle.
Anthea and I both share a love for fashion and with that cemented a truly great friendship, not to mention she's one of the coolest most generous hearted chicks I know! Look forward to many fabulous posts.
So this it it folks, my last post before I descend into a world of nappies and night feeds. On the back of a fairly harrowing first birth experience I will be having a C-section this Wednesday. Mental to think I will be checking myself in to have a baby. I'm excited but shitting myself at the same time, its been 5 years since I nursed and burped a new born, I'm sure it will all come back to me, eek!
In celebration of my impending arrival, my closest friends threw me a baby shower and this is what I wore. Forever hanging onto my sartorial style even at 38 weeks, I purchased this gorgeous mac, had my hair, nails and feet done, added a few accessories and arrived a vision of blue. We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of food, cake and what turned out to be a cacophony of laughter and good times. Thank you ladies, you know who you are and love my gifts.
Hope to see you back on here very soon when I overload you with baby pics and tales of cuteness, till then...

Guest Post - A country wedding

Hello lovely readers! Lady Sleekit has handed me the magic password while she has her ever-stylish feet up waiting on the impending arrival of her new enfant - exciting!

Some of you may recognise me as Sleekit's occasional partner in fashion crime and for those who don't my name is Anthea - I do hope you enjoy my guest posts over the next little while. (I'm a little bit rusty with the blogging so please bear with me.)
I'd describe my style as vintage with a touch of rock'n'roll and little bit of cowgirl thrown in for good measure.

Melbourne has certainly turned on a magnificent end to winter and I attended a gorgeous country wedding in Kyneton - about an hour from the city.

 Posing with my lovely hubby

Diamante brooch picked up at a vintage store in Palm Springs

Any excuse for a weekend away and of course to frock up! There was much toasting of bubbles to the happy couple and smiles all around.

Cheers to you dear readers - I look forward to next time...

5 quid frock and the nursery

I bought this dress many moons ago on a trip back to Glasgow. It was 5 quid from George in Asda, 5 quid! It's been in a box since our move and I came across it the other day. I rescued it from the bargain bin around the time the DVF wrap dress was having its revival. At 36 weeks not much is getting passed my navel, even my maternity jeans are starting to feel uncomfortable, room for 2 and a bit more! I always liked the colour maybe I need more green in my wardrobe...
I've also been busy getting the nursery together. Here's a few details, surprised how much I am gravitating towards pink but I've mixed in a few more complementary colours too.
used some masking tape on an Ikea chest of drawers to brighten them up
bought this colourful set of wooden block from the Poppyshop on Lygon St
bought this paper flower from the Amor y Locura on Gertrude St
framed illustrations by Kat Macleod, one of my favorites, the pic in the black frame I bought from Etsy
The Bugaboo I picked up on Ebay for $300, it's practically brand new (would never dream of spending 2 grand on a new one)
Replica Eames rack, bought on Ebay for $35 and the jumpsuits from Seed

34 weeks pregnant and counting...

kick - yes, I know your in there...
yep it's happening, in 4 weeks time you will be a mother of 2...
  excited, girly moments beckon...

dress/night dress: Bonds
leather jacket: Gorman
scarf: ASOS
ring: Studio leanne
tight: Sportsgirl
boots: ASOS

Hello there, I've been a terrible blogger but I do have a big excuse! Only 4 and a bit weeks to go until the birth, eek. I'm at the stage where I'm ready to meet this little bundle and comfort is taking over my wardrobe. Today, I'm wearing a Bonds dress which I have been technically wearing as a night dress (shhh don't tell) but I'm scrambling for ideas and comfort is key.
As always, accessories have been my savour, here wearing an Aztec scarf which I stole from my beloved, oversize ring and these ASOS ankle boots have also been on high rotation. Reckon I'm the only pregnant woman who is more comfortable in a heel than flats.

Refashions and home decor

before
After

 The downstairs living room
They say your home should reflect your personality and your wardrobe. Well, my home is bright, colourful and full of pattern, I love bold colour. We only moved into this house 5 months ago and I've been putting my stamp on it slowly but surely; there are still many rooms to tackle but our home is starting to take shape. With baby only 6 and a bit weeks away I'm keen to get as much done as possible, I've even got the sewing machine out!
With a tight budget and practically a whole house to furnish, I've looked to ebay and op shops to pick up some bargains.
The wicker furniture is from the op shop (sofa and table for $70 and pretzel chair $50) but the fabric was dated and in dire need of some love. Ikea has a great range of fabrics, but you have to be quick, they turn around quickly. I covered the chair for $15 and the sofa for about $20.
Just starting on the nursery, to be continued...

Wee tartan terror

dress: Shop on Lygon St
tights: Sportsgirl
scotty dog brooch: Gift
shoes: Op shop

There's a wee tartan terror in my tum itching to come out and say hello. She jumps around morning, noon and night keeping her mammy up. Yes folks, this little bean is indeed a girl!
I'm very excited to be having a wee lass and can't wait to meet her, we're gonna have so much fun.
Will she inherit my Scottish/irish complexion or don a mop of blond hair like her daddy? For the first few years my son Mani had pure blond hair and folks would regularly ask if he was indeed mine. Recall one lady actually retorting "How did you get a blond baby?", wee bit rude I thought.
Will she inherit my roman nose that took me 20 years to love? Will she be tall like her daddy or a shorty like me? Only another 8 and a bit weeks till we welcome her into the world.
What will we call her?...
