We are really in the thick of winter here in Melbourne, yesterday it got down to 6 degrees! To keep warm I'm piling on layers: tights under trousers, tops under tops and winter coats. I normally wear this dress/top on its own but it too friggin cold. I love the tail detail of the back, creates a great silhouette. Those of you who are reading from the UK will probably be thinking, 6 degrees, pppfff nae bother, stop yer wingin, but after living in Melbourne for 8 years I have become acclimatised.
I'm heading to Noosa in a couple of weeks for some much needed sun and surf bbbrrrrring it on!

Sleekit Goes Shopping

Finally got a haircut at the weekend and also bought a couple of treats for myself. Spied these pucci esq shoes at the op shop for $7, sold! and fell in love with these (biggest earrings I've ever owed) from Kookai, $30. Went to a party Saturday night and took them on a test run, thankfully they were still in one piece after much drunkin dancing and shenanigans.

Sleekit moments - Casual day

Photobucket
This weeks inspiration outfit evolved around this fabulous dress from Maharishi, one of my favorite UK brands. Being a graphic designer I love anything typographic and this dress has me yearning for Spring. The point detail on the front of the dress became a theme when I went on a search to accessorise.
Have a great weekend folks, catch you next week.

Visited the DFO South Wharf at the docklands the other day with the sole purpose of buying my growing nearly two year old (how did that happen!) some new togs. On my travels I spotted this scarf at the discount Mimco store for $2.95! It had been reduced from $45, SOLD! Most people would probably not pick this scarf up in a heart beat but I saw potential and so here are six potential looks for the bargain price of $2.95. Teamed with my favorite LBD and signature tights. My son scored big too, great discount shopping for kids he has a whole new wardrobe.

Sleekit moments - Party time

Photobucket
I would like to introduce a new segment to Sleekit where I put outfits together based on what my current wish list is. So here we go with Sleekit moments 1. I have a party coming up and if I could buy a whole new outfit I would be happy with this little combo. Shouldn't really call it a 'combo', sounds like I'm dishing up some fast food, lets call it a Sleekit ensemble!

Necklace: Drone $129

Winter red n green

At the start of the week I set myself a challenge to get some colour into my winter wardrobe. These green shorts I normally wear through summer but with some knee high socks and boots I'll take them through to winter. The jumper with the swan was purchased over 10 years ago when I first came to Australia via Hong Kong. It used to be green but I managed to get an oil stain on it, a little box of die later and it's now kinda black, the stitching also changed colour and to be honest probably prefer it. I have a window of half an hour to take my shots and upload, I really don't have time to fanny about getting the perfect pose, so forgive the slightly tortured look I adorn today :)
They say red and green should never be seen, I say bollocks to that.

Seeing black

Photobucket
Photobucket
I am finding that my winter wardrobe is predominately black so this week's challenge will be to work in some colour. Saying that I do like this outfit, if your going head to toe black then texture is the key. Another example would be over here, I love this girl she works black so well.

This week I can't get enough of my new bag acquired from Fashion Hayley. Teamed here with some red accessories for another day at the office. These shades belong to my beloved, he may find they go a missing! Purchased these red snakeskin tights this week, on sale from Sportsgirl (another pair for my ever extending collection).
It's sale time in Melbourne and the coat that I spied months ago has been reduced, $499 down to $249! Never buy full price I tell you! Only problem I don't have a spare $249, arrgrghh.
Enjoy the long weekend folks.

I like to lounge

Photobucket

This is my favorite lounging chair. My little boy uses it as a climbing frame but when he's having an afternoon nap I like to put my feet up, have a cuppa and take time out for myself. Today I'm dressed very casual in jeans but I can't resist a heel to give the outfit a wee bit of sleekit glamour. I've had these jeans for forever, bought on a trip to Glasgow, they are fraying at the bottom and endless washing has given them great character. Scott Walker on the playlist, bliss.

Winter warmers

Winter has hit Melbourne and it's time to get out the woollies. Friends and relatives back home in Glasgow think I lie when I say it gets cold in Melbourne but it bloody well does! So here I am rugged up for a winter's day at work. I love the tier detail on this skirt and red detail on the bag breaks up the head to toe black.

SATC Weekend

So finally SATC2 made it to our shores and on Friday night my sisters and I took to our local cinema in anticipation of the much documented sequel. Reviews have been fair to catastrophic but being a long time fan I arrived with an open mind. I donned the first outfit after purchasing these leggings on Friday afternoon, nothing like what I had intended to wear but when I buy something new as I may have mentioned in previously posts, I have a compulsion to wear right away.
Back to the movie, I did enjoy it but to be honest it just wasn't as good as the first. The decision to set most of the film in another country did not work for me. I craved lunches in Manhattan with a serve of the ladies witty repartee! This age old formula was lacking but did surface with a scene involving Miranda and Charlotte discussing the perils of motherhood; which I could totally relate to, very funny. The fashion didn't have me gasping with envy, although I did like Carrie's Dior tee and big skirt combo, reminiscent of the Carrie wardrobe I love and admire. Without Samantha I reckon this movie would fall on it's arse, she brings most of the humour, that said, I was entertained and enjoyed seeing the girls on the big screen again but maybe it's time to put the Manolos back in the box.
Another purchase I made on Friday afternoon was this fab bag, $30 second hand from an online sale of Fashion Hayley wears. Will be working it into some outfits through the week, stay tuned.
The second outfit is what I had intended to wear to the movie.

First outfit:
Jacket: Karen Millen
Scarf: Shop on Carlisle St
Leggings: David Jones
Clutch: Signature Prints
Shoes: Wittner
Dress: Gordano

Second Outfit:
Shorts: Mooks
Tights: les-queues-de-sardines
Fur: Cue
Tee: Witchery
Jacket: Modzart
Shoes: Kenzo

After the success of my last online tee purchase from Threadless I went on a little search for some new designs, and came across this tee from Wowch. I loved the combination of Marilyn and the dream catcher, ironic that her dreams led to her demise (or who knows! Whole lot of conspiracy theories there). I've tried to give you my best Marilyn pouts but lets just say I'm a work in progress. The trousers pictured I found at the back of the wardrobe after tackling a shambles of a mess, my wardrobe normally looks like a bombs hit it; total opposite of my beloved who organises his wears military style. I bought them on my last trip to Glasgow from an old favorite Zara, also purchased this fab jacket from Cruise, Queen Vivienne if you may. Come to think of it the shoes were from that trip too, ah those were the days!
